You can't explain that!

>Flawed

You mean fat and ugly?

Yeah, you just named two flaws (among many others).

The biggest problem with SAO was fucking all of it.

/thread

People with taste won't like it just because you removed one shit factor of that crap, while shiteaters can't self-insert into a fat fag so they also don't like it.

>Far less popular than SAO

Who gives a shit about the opinion of literally no one who matters.
Decide for yourself if accel shit is better than SAO, popularity is irrelevant.

It's not like you have anything better to do with your time you fucking faggot.

Haru doesn't happen to have looks by his side concerning attracting the female audience unlike Kirito though.

Literally the reason why Accel World isn't more acknowledged is because of Haru not looking like your typical anime boy.

No generic pretty appearance for boyes to self-insert into.

No generic pretty appearance for girls to slobber over.

I actually want to fuck him and I have no idea why.

>I actually want to fuck him and I have no idea why.

As the Uke or Seme?

The main problems of SAO's author aren't Gary Stu or self-inserts; his problem is that he is absolutely abysmal at depicting interpersonal relationships.
Since, for some absurd reason, SAO is somewhat less reliant on those, it ends up being a far better show.

If he's so bad why is he so popular?

>Taku
Relevant

As either.

He is pretty good at introducing virtual worlds that people feel both familiar and still slightly different from norm to get involved into. Both SAO and Accel World had a really strong introduction; SAO even introduces more as it goes on, while Accel gets boring faster down the line.

The only good that ever came out of it was KuroyukiHime

Straight up, that fat fuck is ugly and unappealing. It's not just because he's fat, he's so fucking out of place, even in his own series. It's like watching Eric Cartman: The Animation.
>Boohoo I have no friends
>Except for this top tier cute girl
This is wish fulfillment in its highest form. At least Kirito wasn't an absolute loser before he got into the game.

I never got this argument. A lot of anime, manga, and LNs are wish fulfillment fantasies so why it's wrong here?

>The only good that ever came out of it was KuroyukiHime
Could she have been as good as she was without Haru?
You also forgot about based Ash Roller, true best boy.

Pretty much this desu senpai

Anime Eric Cartman

>derp_commander is STILL taking off his trip to make stealth SAO threads
he can't keep getting away with it

>Make Ash Roller Female protagonist.

FUND IT

I actually liked accell world while I watched it. I should have finished it. I'm going to find it and watch it again. ;_;

repressed memories, leave it alone.

Accel world was even more for self-insertion. Fatty manlet paired with top beauty makes no sense at all

>Their personalities are almost the direct opposite of eachother but they have the same BMI
>That's enough to make them the same character

As niggers would say, theirs levels to this shit. You should at least try to veil the fact that it's a nerd fantasy, one way to do that is by making the otherwise loser protag likeable.

I'm a fat, ugly, loser, with no friends, and this girl likes me because I'm good at video games is literally the highest tier of pandering.

>No generic pretty appearance for boyes to self-insert into.
But him being a fattie makes him more relatable to me. I can't get excited about girls being attracted to yet another pretty boy like I can that an overweight guy who's good at games can attract girls.

Sorry to inform you, but you suck at video games

the better series is the one with the best loli which I dont even have to tell anyone here

yes

>with no friends
But that's wrong, did you even watch this show? He has two very close friends, which is a lot more than most of the target audience has. Hell, even most normies can't say they have two very best friends in the whole world they'd fully trust with everything.

Why couldn't an ultra cute yamato nadeshiko make this show popular?

Pro-tip: the people who criticise SAO are a minority.

SAO is incredibly popular among teenagers because it provides a self-insert power fantasy for chuunis with a superiority complex and a romance between a 'cute' couple for teenage girls to fawn over.

Accel World is better, but it doesn't have the same mass appeal, simply because chuuni kids don't like to identify with the fat, whiny midget who probably reminds them too much of themselves, and girls don't like him because he's ugly.

Because often times, popularity dictates whether you'd get more of the series and gets better funding. It would definitely suck if your favorite mango and animu got abruptly cancelled and thus given a shitty rushed ending, especially for some manga, if not enough people like it right?

>even most normies
yes they do, normies generally have more fulfilling relationships than nerds because their relationships aren't based on dependency and desperation, they actually hang out with people they like, not just the only people who can tolerate them.

It's not MC being fat and ugly that's the problem, it's him being a crybaby faggot
It's okay to have a bit of that in a character, it's just too much

But that's not even why I dislike Accel World. Its worldbuilding is just plain bad and unappealing.

SAO had a better idea but everything else except its worldbuilding was butchered so I'd still prefer Accel World in the end.

no himecut

Because there's nothing insecure fags fear more than an alpha woman.

time.com/3748090/friends-social-health/
>ccording to data from the General Social Survey (GSS), the number of Americans who say they have no close friends has roughly tripled in recent decades. “Zero” is also the most common response when people are asked how many confidants they have, the GSS data show.

As well as insecure, lazy, self hating, socially awkward and short.

dailymotion.com/video/x4khcbm_accel-world-infinite-burst-first-7-min-preview_tv

>confidants
Female metrics of what a close friend is, I have a good friend, and we don't talk about deep shit, but he's backed me up in fights, and will loan me money when I'm broke. That's a friend, not someone I confide in.

Literally only women have good friends by that metric.

This

I think you're comparing apples and oranges. Most of Accel World did not actually take place in the accelerated world, but in the near-future real build and is mostly confined to a high school setting. It did not really need extensive world building because it's more of a vidya anime than a real isekai.

Contrasting to SAO, where the players are actually stuck in another world for long periods of time. The accelerated world doesn't have to be that extensive by the show's nature.

Diff user here a best friend is someone you not only back up or loan money, its someone you'd trust with secrets and your life problems, its someone outside of family(usually) that you can be around like they were. Thats a true bestie in my opinion

>Sky Raker fight scene
HYPE

It's not the amount or detail of the worldbuilding that put me off, it was the idea itself.

I'm not against the real world high school thing, in fact I'm all for it. It's been a long time since I watched it though (didn't finish it mind you), so I might give it one more chance user.

>Literally the reason why Accel World isn't more acknowledged is because of Haru not looking like your typical anime boy.

Accel World doesnt hav cute busty niece lusting for the mc either

>It's like watching Eric Cartman: The Animation
That makes it sound like a great fucking show.

Movie airs next week. How long does it usually take till home release come out?

>bestie

Are you underage by any chance?

People expect too much, friends have falling outs on occasion, hence why it's best not to spill all your secrets, me and my best friend have literally come to blows and beat the crap out of each other, and we were still cool a couple days later.

Thinking someone needs to know your secrets and keep them is an immature measurement of friendship, nobody needs to know your secrets, spilling secrets is more of a therapeutic catharsis for the individual because they do nothing for the friend except give them more things to keep secret.

As for life problems, nothing to talk about, when you're an adulst everyone hasa the same problems.

Women
Money
Health

Talking about this shit in passing is fine, I had a buddy, grown man practically blubbering about losing a woman and i thought it was weak af, not even gonna lie, seeing a grown man bawl his eyes are, was pathetic, and did nothing for our friendship.

Whatever floats your goat though.

SAO became so popular because it was a generic fantasy MMO with self inserting shit.

Because she wants to fuck a pig.

7 months to a year.

Damn, look at that loli 5head.

>Are you underage by any chance?
I'm the original guy who posted the Time link, so try reading it again. In 'murika (and there's no reason to suspect Western Europe is any different) the number of people who say they have no close friends has tripled. What has expected isn't expectations, but how much the average American can live up to them.

>I had a buddy, grown man practically blubbering about losing a woman and i thought it was weak af, not even gonna lie, seeing a grown man bawl his eyes are, was pathetic, and did nothing for our friendship.
Which is exactly why close friends are a neccessity for many people: to have someone to confide in without fear of being judged. This may also be why male suicides rates are so high lately: without close friends, who isn't going to judge them when they're not constantly a stoic, feelingless wall?

Are you saying you wouldn't a pig?

People don't actually want what they say they want.

>What has expected
*what has CHANGED

That'll teach me not to proofread.

>2016
>not just watching Overlord instead

>its someone you'd trust with secrets and your life problems, its someone outside of family(usually) that you can be around like they were.
Nonsense. I've got friends I've known for 20 years, with which I've been through thick and thin and I'd lose my mind if I had to live with them everyday for more than a few weeks. And forget about wasting everybody's time telling them all my problems.

Good friends are made based on either shared experiences or intellectual complicity. Forget about all the touchy-feely nonsense, it never lasts.

>bestie
Kill yourself.

You do realize Accel World's popularity was the only reason SAO was novelized right?

Sure it's less popular than SAO now, but acting like nobody likes it is stupid as shit

Well, in her defense VR corkscrew dicks are probably quite addicting.

As annoying as it was to watch Kirito be stupidly overpowered, a protagonist that's too strong is always preferable to a whiny beta MC. I'd much rather watch an MC beat up bad guys in a single sword slice than watch some beta faggot cry over some stupid shit, while also inexplicably being surrounded by cute girls who wouldn't give him the time of day in any realistic scenario.

It came across as really pathetic. Like the author realized that his audience too pathetic to imagine they could ever be Kirito, so had to make his protagonist fat, ugly and basically useless so the readers could self-insert.

Shit's insulting, man. It's the absolute nadir of a male fantasy, because you don't even have to be physically attractive. No man, just be yourself and girls will fawn over you for your computer-gaming skills.

>I can't watch anything without self-inserting

These are, in fact, self-insertion novels. Most LNs are. The male reader is - on some level - supposed to go "Man, I could be that guy."

There's no reason to be pathetic even in your most febrile fantasies.

Rad
Why is Ash Roller so based?

It didn't have cool metal skull guy with cool voice.

Frankly, you could make this show insanely dark by making Cyan Pile the protagonist. He takes out KYH when she's in a coma, beats Silver Crow.

Now both of them fucking loathe each other, and a memory-wiped KYH starts expression interest in Taku. Then the Red King dies at the hands of Yellow Radio while hunting Chrome Disaster, and shit breaks out into a new war.

Also, Dusk Taker comes to town.

>bad author writes a bad LN
>same author writes another bad LN
>both of them get bad anime adaptations
I don't know, seems quite natural.

Just because people can do it doesn't mean you have to do it.
I never thought "Man I could be Kirito" because it's retarded to think stuff like that

>Why is Ash Roller so based?
Because he's a motherfucker. Loud, rude, overconfident but when push comes to shove he's there for you. Revealing him to be a girl was shit though. He's too much of a bro to be a girl.

Are you some kind of giga-faggot, you?

SAO doesn't have the biggest asshole in Kawahara-verse.

>spoiler

Nega Nebula retaking Shibuya region. So is this movie canon instead of some spinoff?

Yes.

This faggot was goofy, not mysterious and edgy.

>s2 never

You don't actually think stuff like that, self insert is more about imagining yourself in the MC's position, not literally imagining you're the MC. Video game designers, at least within the sphere are RPG's actually encourage it, and call it self-authorship, rather than self insert because it sounds better. Basically imagining yourself in the scenario is good fodder for the imagination. Having the main slut like a guy for literally being a loser, kinda kills the ability to self author because then you have to imagine yourself as a loser, which isn't fun.

LOOK AT THAT UGLY FAT FUCK
YOU CAN'T BE SERIOUS
WHO THE FUCK CAN RELATE TO A 4 FOOT TALL BALL SHAPED CUNT BESIDES AN AMERICAN

>The biggest complaint with SAO is that Kirito is a Mary Sue and Klein wasn't developed enough
Not even close.

Biggest problem was it did a bait-and-switch with its premise and became a generic tasteless battle-harem.

What are the odds that someone who dress like that never had VR sex?

She's hot, but she needs a better body. The dress is sexy, but she's really too flat to pull it off.

Fuuko is fucking perfect, though.

She's definitely had it countless times. Can Haru's tiny dick really compete?

/thread

People with taste won't like it just because you removed one shit factor of that crap, while shiteaters can't self-insert into a fat fag so they also don't like it.

>Can Haru's tiny dick really compete?
Kuroyuki takes "more cushion for the pushin'" very seriously.

It's VR. He could have a horse cock if he wants.

Only his speed can satisfy her.

>fat midget with a tiny dick
>20 girls still want to fuck

Your retarded points aside.

I dropped AW because they made Haru look retarded. If you are going to have a fat character to tell a story dont make him in a different style than the rest of the cast to hide it.

This. He has a cunty personality on top of being a fat coward but he still has a harem. Show sucks.

How many routes does the VN have?

>a male best friend that's actually important to the plot
All Taku does is fail and make Haru seem better.

I thought SAO was absolute garbage on the level of a shitty battle harem, but I liked the premise. Would it be worth watching this show?

In my opinion the first arc is actually decent. As usual it's best to watch it yourself and make your own judgement rather than going by what Sup Forums tells you you're allowed to like. Sup Forums's taste is notoriously shitty.

>You mean fat and ugly?
Isn't that just how the protagonist sees himself and not how he actually looks?

>Isn't that just how the protagonist sees himself and not how he actually looks?

I was thinking the same thing, it's an exaggerated self-image that we're seeing.

Of course, for all we know that could also be true for Kuroyukihime, and that we're seeing her through his impression of her, much the way Don Quixote visualized his beloved Dulcinea.

Born on a dungheap to die on a dungheap

Wasn't Haru incredibly self-hating?
