but muh shaft

1. The most cinematic anime is probably an actual anime movie.
2. Ergo Proxy shits all over this.

The best. Here's a video I made awhile ago in honor of it youtube.com/watch?v=jHj6jqywklg

>2. Ergo Proxy shits all over this.
I like Ergo Proxy but Lain is a lot better, more important in the long run.

is this the anime that you fags constantly shill on the prerec stream? what's so great about it?

Cracky is catharsis

No, this is.

The greatest animeme of all time.

...

Lain might be better but Ergo Proxy its way more cinematic.

...

>Ergo Proxy its way more cinematic.
hm, that's a good point. Ergo Proxy has a higher budget so there's better animation. but Lain's art direction is very "cinematic" to me.

yes

That's not Hyouka.
Seriously, check it out.

Anime series - Mushi-shi or Neon Genesis Evangelion/End of Evangelion

Anime movie - tough one..Perfect Blue comes to mind though. Or Spirited Away.

But these are just off the top of my head, i've seen too many to pinpoint 1 specific.

...

How do you like ios 10, mobile posting Sup Forumsedditor?

Angel's Egg

It's literally End of Evangelion, only useless contrarian adolescents will disagree.

Yeah but NGE was literally just throwing a combination of Freudian and Christian-Apocalyptic symbolism at the wall to see what would stick. The main thing going through their head was "what will look cool and weird in line with our chosen motif" rather than "what is the deeper meaning we are trying to convey" which is apparently noting. There is no subtext to NGE that the viewer is not adding themselves.

Anime can never be cinematic, child of imdb. Even the so-called "great" ones do not so much as graze the aesthetic and philosophical heights of cinema and literature. It's a trash genre made for East Asian teenagers and white manchildren with short attention spans.

>No one talking about texnohlyze
Seriously, Lain is my favorite show on any medium, but Texnohlyze is presented in such an amazing way. Its also made by the same people as Lain, but on a larger budget.
For all the talk people make about "pleb filters" and kino on this board, Texnohlyze is as close as you will get.
>tfw the first episode barely has any dialogue yet tells you everything you need to know to get in the setting.

O wow what an incredible list I have literally never heard of any of these what a useful and insightful post thank you so much anonymous

These are cinematic and kino
Lain and other entry level dogshit like EVA are movie-esque at best

...

Wanna give some titles there, champ?

The Garden of Footfags is probably the best looking anime film I have seen.

Samefaging. Mispelled Texhnolyze twice.
If you like Lain, or ergo proxy, or anyhing if that sort you need to see Texhnolyze. I know I amd a blatant shill but shows like this and Lain transend their genre and make anime not shit.

The director does some fancy fucking shit. 5 cm/s was equally gorgeous, especially in lighting.

I'd also have to agree with some of the posters here regarding NGE being cinematic as fuck. Say what you will about the symbolism- I agree it was largely filler- but the show is absolutely stunning in how it's framed. Some of those shots are famous for a reason.

Even finds a way on other boards for fucks sake.

My only complaint about lain is that its in 4:3. Its truly a beautiful anime with such a unique vision of the world. The power lines as a symbol of the internet as a hidden world? Years ahead of its time.

This is our thread now.

Since when can mods move threads to other boards? Seems like too much bother desu

Also has anyone else read Rushkoff's cyberia? Its clearly a huge influence on the thinking of lain, and they even went so far as to name the bar after it. It expands on a lot of the early 90's internet futurism of the day.

tekkon isn't anime

I've seen Sup Forums threads moved to Sup Forums every now and then

>most cinematic
Seriously, what did he mean by this?
There's potentially infinite ways of doing cinema so how can one be "more cinematic" than the other?

When /trash/ was created, I think.
They never use /trash/ anymore though, so it's just a furry porn and erp board now.

Is this from Genius Party?

Isn't winter days russian?

It means the most if its medium. Or in this case the most like cinema. It's arbitrary and subjective, but then so are most aesthetic appraisals

...

And you don't seem to understand.

no idea what that scene was about

agreed

I also think Texhnolyze gets too ignored in this board.
I think it's because it's long and it starts slowly, in an unfamiliar setting that isn't explained until the very end, so a ton of people drops it before it gets really interesting.

...

No way, Lain is Brakhage:the anime

I love that comparison, but lain is way to coherent to be by brakhage. Maybe if it was just jittery shots of paint spilled on an animation cel.
