Basic meditation
This method is an excellent place to start. It’s what most people mean when they say “Mindfulness meditation.” It will begin to focus your mind, and the principles here carry over to most forms of meditation. It is the basis of Vipassana.

Steps
Sit comfortably
Take a few slow breaths, then close your eyes and mouth
Breathe through your nose as you normally would
Notice the sensation air makes against the inner rim of your nostrils as you inhale and exhale
Focus on this sensation
Each time you start thinking about something else, realize “I am meditating,” and focus on the breath sensation again
Repeat

Hey guys, quick story of /SIG/.

At 20 years old i didnt finish school and was smoking weed since i was 13. Didnt have ANY discipline, didnt read a book in the whole seven years.

In my 19 and 20s my weed addiction got so bad i got a psychosis and regularly panic attacks. Some evening i have the feeling that i might die tonight, can't sleep for shit.

The next day i really recognized that my life was shit and i do nothing productive the whole day, really nothing. Slowly adapt new habits ( reading 10p of a self improvement book)

Now its 2 years later. I am studying computer science and physics. Have a good body, nice diet, don't drink or smoke. Read a book every week and taught myself drawing and guitar.

I would recommend jogging daily too for anyone here who doesn't work out. the cardiovascular benefit is immense, it lowers tour resting heart rate, it's simple and can be done almost any day, and it is free from distraction like meditation

I had never heard of a decent dumbbell routine, but I searched on /fit/ and found this with quite a few people saying it's not bad. one person did recommend doing stiff legged dumbbell deadlifts, and those may be easier to do than the one legged deads in the picture

and I'll go ahead and recommend couch to 5k. there are hundreds of phone applications that will tell you when you should jog and when you should walk, so it's super easy to follow. I've always been a sprinter who has a difficult time with running a full mile without getting winded, and with couch to 5k I got up to 2 miles straight jogging while feeling fine
also if you're a masochist who likes to sprint more than jog, then do high intensity interval training (hiit). it's honestly similar to c25k but instead of jogging you sprint for a period, then jog/walk for a period, then repeat.

its a shit infographic, the whole point of meditation and mindfulness is to recognize ones thoughts, if you meditate and your mind starts wondering, recognize (maybe even from third person perspective) your wandering thoughts as a separate entity, this the whole point, once you get better at this, you start doing it during daily life, when you get angry/happy/sad/deprrssed you 'catch' yourself and ask yourself why are you feeling these feelings and thoughts, and try to control them in different ways. This is what gives you the edge in pretty much every situation. Dont fall for a spirituality, concentrating on breath, all kinds of indian shit etc crap. Meditation is nothing special though it can and is useful. Just dont make it your lifes goal like some ratards do because you eill just waste time
