Australian Welfare State

I've worked in social security advocacy for over a year now. The irony of ending up there with my politics is beyond astonishing.

Nevertheless, come learn about the glorious world of Australian gibs. It's not what you think!

The gibs is the least effort possible for state supporting families with no capital. Corporate shells for 99percent

u work for centerlink or job/service provider?

wrong, it's multipurpose.
1. Paralysis. You don't have enough to advance, to do anything really. You get barely enough for bills, let alone buy anything AT ALL. EVERYTHING you buy must be second hand, EVERYTHING including shoelaces.
2. Forces you to sell all capitol to survive.
3. extra work for state entities (supports the parasites, forces the welfare recipient to work to support NGOs and other entities which in turn support the government.

it's industrial cannibalism.

also it forces you out of social circles and makes organisation impossible.

work for the dole is literally the most communistic program to exist in the current western world.

Neither, I work in an community legal centre doing advocacy work. Would love to work for Centrelink though, Review Officers make 80k a year, lucky bastards.

This. It's a vicious cycle. People on long term unemployment tend to have lives that constitute a real comedy of errors. Get off to a bad start and you're stuck with the welfare dependency jew.

People on these benefits tend to be unable to separate entitlements from the real world and talk about private businesses like charities who refuse them. The bludger mindset is a cancer and I've seen it first hand.

What percentage of your clients are noongas, and why don't they ever show up for their Work for the Dole activities?

abc.net.au/news/2017-10-05/nigel-scullion-urged-to-fix-work-for-the-dole-scheme/9016818

It's also a joke. Literally free labor for non-profits. Job active providers are all in it for kickbacks as well. Plus, short term it's easy as piss to get out of for a few months at a time.

All you need to do is get diagnosed with clinical depression (easy for the average Sup Forumstard) then "attempt suicide" once or twice a year. Bob's your uncle, temporary exacerbation of a permanent impairment, enjoy your responsibility free Newstart sir.

You could look at it that way but when you see people actually wasting away out of work, turning into someone who can't show up for anything, can't plan or apply themselves, it starts to look pretty good.
I've seen isolated, permadrunk 24 yr olds who couldn't put up a tent and they need some kind of structure, like, desperately need something to do before they just turn into garden salads with legs and cigarettes.

Literally 0% of our clients are Noongas. I think in one year I encountered 1 person with indigenous relatives.

Centrelink treats Abbos with kids gloves and I don't think I've ever seen one get their benefits reviewed. Irony is DHS will go after illiterate refugees left right and center but tick that ATSI box and you're right as rain.

Plus most job active providers fix you up with charities so in that regard it helps them help themselves.

Still a scam and the gov shells out massive money to contractors who do nothing. Commission on placement is only a fraction of their income from the program.

I have a lot of friends who have been perpetually stuck in the centerlink life. The worst cases have been because of the private job providers. This area isn't my forte at all, but if you have some input in advocating policy in this shit please try stop job providers being incentivised for clients to continuously return (i.e. not get a job).

I wish I did but I'm just a small fry in a tiny organisation. Government only really talks to us about improving delivery of services to "special demographics" like domestic violence victims and indigenous people. Guess welfare is too politicized for government to care about formulating sensible policy.

Most of my superiors are bleeding heart socialists so if we were asked to advise on policy it would be some serious commie horse shit.

I find Australian to be INCREDIBLY interesting..

You would think you guys would be the most right leaning nation in the world, but it's like it's the opposite.

It's fascinating desu

Honestly the US seems more right wing than Australia as a whole. We might have our Texas (Queensland) but you have like 20 states that lean right.

We have been lefties for a long time. Half the people on our banknotes are outright communists. Not that anyone would know who they are.

I've heard that it's hard to get on DSP these days. People with multiple physical and mental conditions being rejected. Something like only 5% applications being approved. Thoughts OP?

Also do abbo benefits ever get cut for not meeting job search requirements?

So then eliminate it, if they can't work or be productive then they starve and die. If they are successful they are poor no longer. Let them fail or succeed at their own peril.

Why would you think Australia would be the most right leaning country in the world?

Well some parts are for sure, but the major cities are all incredibly left leaning and its disgusting, you can tell right away when you are in a liberal majority city.

I love your colorful currency.

Just due to the harsh conditions and overall attitude of Australians I meet, they seem independent and seem to value self responsibility, and they also seem pretty tough.

But I've never been to Australia myself so I wouldn't know.

we want to, they don't.
nobody is willing to take the leap of faith because of the estrogen and the omega male syndrome.
there are no men left in the country.

They've come down bloody hard on DSP. 95% of our casework I'd say is related to DSP claims or reviews of DSP payments. I've told people with no legs they aren't disabled enough to get on disability. With that said, before 2013 people were ripping the system off like you wouldn't believe so pick your poison.

Problem is more than just that the impairment threshold is too high but that getting the right evidence is fucking impossible. It NEEDS to be from a specialist and they need to address the statutory impairment requirements with immense specificity and they just don't know what the fuck they're doing and Centrelink can't decide what they want to see either. I could go on and on but DSP is the biggest pain in the ass for us, that and the disastrous Child Care Rebate.

But if we don't give free money to useless people how with the middle class alleviate their existential guilt by outsourcing their philanthropy to the state?

Work for dole coordinator checking in here for a job active provider in a low socio economic area. My jobs fucked lmao

>I've told people with no legs they aren't disabled enough to get on disability. With that said, before 2013 people were ripping the system off like you wouldn't believe so pick your poison.

Sounds quite similar to the UK

If you've worked 40 years as a truck driver no reason you can't retrain as an actuary right? Don't need legs for that!

Brisbane and Gold Goast though

How does one get into your line of work, OP?

Well if you're a law graduate there's a lot of volunteer work that can develop into a job. Where I am is literally a legal firm and my title is junior paralegal.

I literally got into it because I did a work placement in uni at a similar organisation as an undergrad.

Not to say legal is the only pathway. My supervisor isn't a lawyer and started in student admin at a uni.

And Texas has Austin. Big cities are always cuckfests.

Hey OP do you know anything about disability services at centerlink?

Two clinical psychologists working together that I've been seeing in the last year told me to apply for disability after diagnosing me.

They gave me evidence to put in with my application which involved psychiatric report, IQ/intelligence report, and their own opinions on my condition.

I applied about 5 weeks ago and I haven't heard anything back yet, is that normal?

I have a mygov/centerlink account from which I got Austudy 3 years ago on, so I was expecting my centerlink account to update with my application that I posted in...is that not the case?

If someone tried telling me that and I had no legs I would stab them. No lie.

Currently paying back those Centrelink vampire cunts because apparently I didn't report earnings in a single financial year (I earned over 12k in 11 months), from 2013 to 2014. It's only now that they notify me that I owe them money, it only took them 3 years to notice it the cunts. Couldn't come at a worse time, now that I'm living out of home by myself and barely scraping by.

Yeah nah obviously you're the problem and not the single mothers with eight children or the perpetually drunk boongs
I paid tax working full time for 8 years, needed Centrelink for a bit and couldn't get a fucking cent out of the cunts.

I'm not allowed to give you advice regarding your circumstances but I can give you information. Also psychologists don't know shit about DSP and give bad illegal advice on it all the time. The time limit you're talking about is pretty normal. Could try calling them up but doubt it'll do anything.

To qualify for DSP you need 4 things
1. Condition needs to be fully diagnosed, treated and stabilized
2. Needs to be permanent (as in not going to improve for 2 years)
3. Need to meet a minimum of 20 points on one statutory imparement table (if its over multiple then you need to undergo a "program of support" ie disability employment service first)
4. Evidence must be by a recognized medical specialist so if your letter isn't from a clinical psychologist then no dice and even then Centrelink may decide they need it from a psychiatrist. A mere diagnosis isn't any good either, the evidence HAS TO DESCRIBE YOUR IMPAREMENT not just the condition. Centrelink arn't doctors, they just want to know if you're unable to do certain things.

After your rejection you can have the decision reviewed by an ARO if you apply before 13 weeks from the decision. After that you can have the Social Security and Child Support Division of the Administrative Appeals Tribunal if you appeal within 28 days.

If you want to look at the impairment tables look up 'DSP 20 point system' and find it from there.

Get that shit reviewed, no statute of limitations on appealing an over-payment notice. Appeals are free anyway.

PROTIP: Call Centrelink's admin line, pretend it was a mistake and listen as you're put through to complaints without the waiting times.

Yeah they're both clinical psychologists who work at a doctors office (my doctor referred me to them).

I looked at the 20 point impairment table and I meet the criteria under Table 5 mental health by easy 30 points.

The stuff the clinical psychologists gave me said their opinion is my mental impairments are life-long and wont improve.

I've been a shut-in NEET for nearly 15 years aside from the brief stint of online university that I did 3yeaars ago but was unable to do.

No guarantee, can't know w/o seeing it and even then I can't advise you. What state r u in? I can give a number of an advocacy firm.

Qld
Different cunt same Shit story tho

work for the dole set me straight i was a silly cunt druggy doing nothing with my life for 3 years. they chucked me into labor/landscaping and i was like fuck this shit did my cert 3 and 4 in IT Networking then got into an IT job been doing IT for 4 years now

Hey m8 great thread
What do you think of that bullshit robodebt scandal and them pinging plenty of cunts who didn't owe any money?

Also, tell us some stories about the most pathetic welfare leeches you've ever encountered. Help me to feel better about being on Newstart for the past 3 months.

I want to get an advance to pay for a 600 dollar powerbill I got. Fucking kikes, but I don't know if I'll be on Newstart for that long.. maybe I will. I hope not.

As well as that, how do I get a job at Centrelink?

Where are you at? Victoria?

Have any of you faggots tried to fuck a kangaroo? Or do you just stick to abbos? Fucking cuckstraya

> Just due to the harsh conditions and overall attitude of Australians I meet, they seem independent and seem to value self responsibility, and they also seem pretty tough.

You seem to be very stupid if you think they are right wing. Or maybe you think right wing = good traits, left wing = bad traits.

where the FUCK is cenno user
