>Do you consider drug addicts to be a disease?
FTFY
And yes.

a disease that is cured by gas chambers

Drug addiction is not a disease. It stems from lack of discipline and self control.

Kind of like my masturbatory routine.

Depends on the drug. That also doesn't mean it being labelled as such doesn't mean it can't be cured. Many times, a cure can just lead to another addiction tho. Like taking methadone for heroin addiction, for instance. On all accounts, methadone is a much harsher and harder substance to get off of.

I do believe that hallucinogens or substances such as kratom can cure addictions.

Sadly something that could have been beautiful was high jacked for social engineering. There is so much fake acid out there that just fries your brain and none of my friends even know it. really weird times were living in

how would it be a disease?

Brafp

No

Addiction is a disorder not a disease.

Hell no

I'm on that dextro-amph every day nigga

Get at me

No. It's a lack of self control that allows people to become addicted to drugs. It's the same reason people are fat asses. Lack of self control. And I confess... I am a fat ass.

>methadone less addictive then heroin
>kratom meme
>encouraging psychedelic use

Certain personalities are more prone to abusing alcohol and drugs. Getting to the point where you're physically dependent is your own fucking fault.

Disease? I'd say an affliction. It's a mental/physical (or both) dependence at the time of being addicted. Treatable and reversible, yes, but not ultimately without the will of the user.
You can't fix a broken will and you can't save anyone.
Those addicted I say watch the ones who make it out and reward their behavior and let the ones with weak wills remain a shame.

No. Alcoholism is not a disease either.

i was an addict alcoholic. addiction is a mental disorder that you create for yourself much like anxiety or depression. willpower becomes your worst enemy when you're an addict. addicts with too much willpower can support a $200 a day habit without a job, just think about that for a second NEETs. the way to stop addiction is surrender your willpower, it's the reason so many addicts find god when they get sober. kicking a drug addiction requires mental gymnastics that only religion can provide. i don't consider it a disease because the only real sickness is the result of the drugs you're putting in your body.

Food addiction is essentially a drug addiction, you are addicted to pleasure chemicals released when you eat food and cant stop yourself

Is food addiction also a disease?

lack of discipline is tied to imbalanced neurotransmitters

No,its a chemical misusage on the body
Somewhere in the "I inject acid into myself" category

Substance abuse is an individuals own fault. I am an alcohol and I realize it, I try to function as best as I can but it still sucks and the only person responsible for it is myself. Sure we can bring up and argue that I might have become this way because both my parents and their parents and basically my whole family are a long line of alcoholics that I was predisposed to this but I still have my personal choice, no one is forcing me to drink.

However there are more sinister issues like people becoming addicted to substances unwillingly and sometimes unknowingly. Alprazolam or "Xanax" is one such thing that gets prescribed to people on a daily basis all over the world, it costs almost nothing, the doses prescribed are way too large and people have no idea they are getting dependent on the shit because a lot of doctors don't explain how addictive it is. Just a 0.25mg pill will make you lose any anxiety you might have, however you will also feel like you've been on a 3 day bender when you wake up in the morning, this feeling goes away about 30-60 minutes after waking up and most people instinctively go for another pill without realizing how addictive that shit is. Regulated drug abuse is the real enemy we should be worrying about.

I consider it a moral and personal failing, not a disease.

Drug use in general is degenerate and if you have a addiction you should either kill your self or seek professional help. Drug users are a drain on society and make it more of a dangerous place. This goes for perception drugs as well. Just because the Dr. gave it to you, doesn't mean its good to keep taking it. I think pill head are even worse than most druggies. The gas chamber awaits you addicted fucks.

I won't encourage the use of Acid or stuff that is made in some Chinese basement laboratory. I've read many accounts of how Methadone addicts had gotten control of their lives with kratom tea and their own willpower. DMT personally helped me overcome my anxiety with the idea of going back to college after 7 years. I also stopped using pot as a result and I'm starting my stretch at nofap.

addiction is an inability to change one's mind

Smoke weed everyday.

No, but mental disorders that highly correlate with addiction can be

This is a narrowminded and uneducated point of view.

Never procreate. We don't need more of your sub 100 IQ swimming around the gene pool.

It's not a disease, but a mental disorder.

Tell me why it's narrow minded Bong! explain yourself.

It is a disease in a sense that when you are addicted to substance your whole metabolism goes nuts and it funcions abnormaly so it is both a moral/psyche problem and a physical problem/disease

>drug addiction
>disease
No. Addiction is a mental health issue, but drug consumption is a lifestyle choice.

No. Its s a choice

I've been addicted to a few things several times multiple people in my family have died from drugs it is a choice and falling down that hole is just personal weakness...

This is spot on. I'm an ex addict and it was purely because of impulse control and being a weak faggot. As soon as I decided to grow the fuck up and stop using drugs my whole life changed.

Drug addiction as a disease is a fucking joke, want to quit drugs? Be a man and quit using them. Drug addicts have to be the most coddled pathetic group of people on earth.

Technically it is a disease because your body and mind craves the substance to which you are addicted to. It's you though who choose to put the drug in your body.

I think a seperate classification should be made for drug related diseases. Being addicted to drugs and not having the free will to stop is not really the same as having an infectious disease.

this

Drug addiction is a disease of weakness

this, calling it a disease is SJW bullshit , also all the coddling and excusing triggers.

>ive worked at an upscale rehab and psychiatric facility for about 2.5 years now

Yes and no. I think addicts are generally scumbags, and those scumbags are more likely to get on drugs or abuse alcohol. I also find them to be very weak people, and that's why they are so into alternative spirituality and that AA bullshit. It caters to weak people who have no meaning in their life, and then they treat the program like a religion.

Never fucking trust an addict, even an "in recovery" one. Lies and cheating are part of their genes, and they'll push and push boundaries to test you. I would rather have one of my mental patients than a fucking addict any day.

I consider any addiction to be a sign of cowardice and a weak mind. There is smoke in my iris so I painted a sunny day on the insides of my eyelids. People who are afraid of reality run from it, people who are ashamed of their state run from it.

While I'm on the subject, cuckholdery is like scat porn but less messy. Cucks and scats are addicts of the worst kind.

brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrooOOOARRRRRPPPPPPRRRRTTTTT PPRRRRRPPPP PPPPP BRAP

Fucking hate that hairstyle on coalburners.. it's like we get it.

a disorder, yes

Yep. A disease you cause in yourself because of stupidity. Not different that getting infected from eating food from the garbage.
Plenty diseases come from that. Fatmericans and mexicNs that cant stop eating shot eventually get heart disease. Just because they cause it on themselves doesnt mean is not a disease. Abstinence syndrome is something you need to treat, you cant just stop getting the ophiates suddenly when trying to quit once you get addicted. Lung cancer. Disease.

I smoked crack and heroin for 5 years on a daily basis... I quit cold turkey last year.

you can stop if you want..

>Do you consider drug addiction to be a disease?
No.

Being a weak-minded degenerate isn't a disease. It's a personality flaw.

Holy shit. I know that girl!

i do not rack disciprine!

Bullshit. Addiction changes the brain which makes it way more difficult to break the addiction.

You can distinguish an addicted brain vs a normal brain via an MRI.

ITT: People who don't understand what addiction means in a medical standpoint

Addiction is by definition a disease. Just like diabetes type 2 is a disease. Self-infliction is not a criteria.

What does Sup Forums think of brainfood such as AlphaBrain and nootropics?

Why aren't we taking more of it?

Is it a potential business? Should you sell it and become a millionaire?

I believe it's a sickness of the soul

i know it's a lame meme but I honestly believe kratom helped to save my life

I had gone down a dark ass road since highschool. and my addictions got worse in college. got booted from school and got a job and became a hard fucking core alcohol. it was really interfering with my life and my body was being destroyed

now i drink a couple of scoops of ground up leaves a day and am fine. while on kratom i've been able to develop my discipline, had a good relationship and have gotten some quality it certifications so that i can have a decent job while i finish school

i am the kratom meme i guess, but i'm fine with that.

Rebranding addiction as a disease instead of a moral failing just give addicts more justification to relapse. (((Shrinks))) make a killing off relapsing addicts. My brother was a cokehead during his adolescent years and bounced in and out of rehabs. He eventually quit cold turkey when he was nineteen after he realized that most of his friends were either dead or in the state penitentiary.

Addictions aren't a disease but addicts are.

slide thread

Im addicted to that piękną dupę in the picture

so you basically exchanged one addiction for another.

the initial use and continuing to abuse is NOT a disease

Once the person crosses the line to addiction it IS A DISEASE.
They will never be able to use casually and get a obsession with the substances that are similar to psychotic behaviour

dame esa salsa

Pretty sure this is an ex gf of mine, she's a single mother now and got a music associates degree at a community college

Stack it with Bupropion breh.

Godlike

It's a brain disorder that can be changed through the usage of certain behaviors that encourage neuroplasticity like exercise and meditation. The structure of an addict's brain is dysfunctional, which can be something you're born with, or something that you can give yourself with repeated drug abuse. It can be undone, but it will always remain there and can be triggered again if you start to do drugs again.

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3181920/

You have the choice to quit, but your ability to control your behavior becomes heavily impaired by repeated drug abuse over time, and you gradually lose the ability to regulate your use. Total abstinence from all mind altering substances is a requirement for the most severe cases, a minority can go back to using soft substances casually.

t. ex crackhead

ive seen that jewish whore in some porn
i cant find it tho

I have grown to love anarcho-capatalism. It perfectly encapsulates many aspects of our current society if they were drawn out to their logical conclusions.

Yes, a disease of society that must be treated harshly

A toxin can infect you and alter your brain, does that mean effects of environmental toxins is not disease? If you abuse drugs even one time(recreational use is abuse) you failed yourself.

You know what helped me quit heroine? Not using heroine to begin with.

no its a choice
