>dubs

>characters who got saved by the dub

This so much. Sean Schemmel was born for that role.

>Goku sounds like fucking superman (and talks like him too)

Fuck that shit.

While the Japanese voice sucks because it's a female(what the fuck are they even thinking), the English dub is not good either.

Goku is supposed to have a happy go lucky goofy voice. Tagalog dub perfectly nailed that.

God-tier dub passing by

youtube.com/watch?v=2YzHTt2Pns4

I'm not sure if Dragon Ball Super has been dubbed to any capacity yet, but if he isn't the voice if Goku, I'm gonna get pissed

Considering he's a blatant ripoff of Superman, it fits.

Me.

>he prefers his old lady voice that clashes horrendously with his appearance

Suit yourself

Most of the Funimation's One Piece cast, in comparison to every other dub excluding the Japanese.

>watching dub

The problem with that dub is that they are using their DBZ voices and it fucking ruins the immersion for me. Luffy is pretty good though.

>Tagalog dub perfectly nailed that.

t. Nesty Calvo Ramirez

/r/ing the Costanza edit of that image. Saki a qt.

I usually watch subs unless it has top tier talent like the Miyazaki films...but that's mostly due to Disney hiring the actors. Christian Bale, Michael Keaton, and others have been in those movies. They're superior to any Japanese actor.

For shows I go subs 99% of the time. The only times dubs are objectively superior are
>Golden Boy (the creator, Tatsuya Egawa, said that the American version of Kintaro is the best he's ever heard)
>Dragon Ball/Z/GT/Super
>Black Lagoon (they speak English in the series, so it fits canonically and the creator, Hiroe Rei, said he envisioned the characters speaking English)
>Haruhi (this is probably the best example you'll find of American actors mimicking their Japanese counterparts perfectly)
>Berserk (the original 90s version, plus the game with Cam Clarke and Michael Bell)
>Outlaw Star
>A Time To Screw
The rest are better with Jap voices.

That being said, people who say you have to watch it in their original language are faggots. Do you think Japs watch Spongebob in English? No.

Darker than Black also had a pretty good dub, but that's me basing it on Hei suddenly gaining a very moe quality to his voice.

every single character ever in any medium

Jormangand, nigga. Fuck listening to that shit in Japanese.

Also Shinzo was easily superior in the dub over the sub.

DBZ on that list ruins it for me (DB is the shit, though).

As much as you nostalgia fags complain about the granny, it's better than listening to a retard yelling constantly. Or wacky sound effects and pointless dialog when there doesn't need to be any.

There's a difference between a yell, and a roar from your gut. Granny understands this.

I hardly even notice it. That Franky though, is great. Every time I hear Patrick Seitz as Franky, I can't help but hear a cheerful Garrosh Hellscream.

I also love Christopher Sabat's Zoro, despite it being identical to many of his other roles. He captures the "serious and goofy" moments perfectly.

>Little TURD, I was gonna die! Locking my head in a deathgrip and passing out like that!

But, yeah. Luffy is god-tier. Colleen has got a wicked set of pipes on her, to be able to yell like that.

youtube.com/watch?v=xYWBMLYRp1A

He's nothing like him personality wise though. Though honestly I think Funi's changed dialogue is to blame rather than Schemmel.

>A Time To Screw
Hentai is always better dubbed.

Yeah, Goku doesn't give a shit about being the 'light of the Universe'. He just wants to fight strong opponents.

"retard yelling constantly" is a very broad generalization that doesn't describe the series at all, and you know it.

I get that the DBZ dub isn't the greatest in the universe, but it's miles better for the sole fact that the english voice understands how to yell. I can't take a single fight with Goku in it seriously because of that fucking granny. Yeah she has talent, but the voice itself just doesn't suit what I'm seeing on screen, and no amount of talent can change that.

>Not watching the greatest dub in existence

youtube.com/watch?v=nLmsVBgZiak

>he didn't watch the DBZ Kai dub

Still sounds too "manly."

Are you retarded?

Old lady screeches do not fit his appearance at all.

I always wondered what kind of terrible twists and turns you must've had in your life to choose to dub Chinese cartoon porn.

This is the only show I can't watch subbed.

Objectively the greatest dub voice that will ever be recorded.

Stop watching that ancient shit, they've stuck to the actual dialogue closely ever since Z Buu Saga and all through Kai and the new movies.

Even though she's been doing this for about 30+ years, she still sounds good to me.

This is the worst thread on Sup Forums right now congrats to all

Nothing can beat the RE:Zero general threads.
great taste
Goku didn't steal anything from Superman until the Saiyan saga happened.
Dub Genos is fine, he just sounds a bit old and throaty. The important thing is that he sounds monotone but also emotional and a little bit gay also.

>They're superior to any Japanese actor
They certainly use good actors, but using live action actors for voice only roles isn't always a good thing as evidenced by Miyazaki's choices in later movies. And I doubt you have watched many Japanese movies anyway. For example Nakadai has had voice acting roles.

>suddenly pretending that setting matters
I bet you watched Mulan in Chinese too.

I once heard a few lines from the Haruhi dub and it was fucking horrible. Felt like I was back in elementary with some dyslexic kid reading out loud from his textbook.

>bunch of claims about creators saying this and that without a source
Surprised you forgot the Watanabe meme.

>people who say you have to watch it in their original language are faggots
No one has ever said that. It's just the superior choice, regardless of original language. There are simply too many problems that arise.

>Do you think Japs watch Spongebob in English?
>you should do something stupid because Japanese people are doing it
Confirming the weeaboo/dubfag overlap.

>realize you just responded to what was probably a copy of a reddit post
Never mind.

missing the best dub ever made

Pic related's girly voice bothered me so much in the original version that I couldn't take him seriously.

meant for

Dubfags should die.

No, he sounds way too intense and manly in the english dub, like he was a super hero or shit.

He was supposed to sound carefree, laid back and irresponsible.

Kuwabara sounds like a retard in english and you can't take him seriously for even a single second while he is on-screen because of that, but while Kuwabara is a goof-off most of the time, there were many moments, like when he was fighting Elder Toguro or "dying" against Younger Toguro, or his fight against Seaman, that he was supposed to sound angered and serious.

Laura Bailey literally saved Rise from that old squeaky granny bitch Rie.

there is nothing worse than the maid sama dub

Michael Bell and Cam Clarke were both miscast as Guts and Puck though. Marc Diraison is perfect though.

The 4Kids sub totally recreated her character. When I watched it again in Japanese when I was a little older, I was surprised at how much cuter she sounds. Still, though, maybe it's just because I grew up with it but I have a soft spot for her 4kids dub, despite the fact that they make her sound kind of angry all the time.

This entire cast. Except for Jacuzzi, but even he grew on me by the end.

Nelvana actually dubbed Cardcaptors Sakura, not 4Kids, it was recorded in Canada. And Ed's VA voiced Kero.

Sub has superior Isaac, Miria, and Ladd.

>almost every single person in his family in the jap original is voiced by the same person

Issac and Miria are debatable, but Ladd? His dub voice blows the sub version out of the fucking water.

youtube.com/watch?v=JHsUfuFVRSQ

Man these threads are always about english dubs, which is understandable, but why don't we show other countries' dubs some love?

Take GTO and Cowboy Bebop for example. Both exceptional in French, for reasons unknown.

Heidi is better in the German dub because it fits the setting so much better and the people dubbing it actually gave a shit, which is rare for old german dubs.

No. Your dub Ladd is boring. He lacks the passion, aggression and glee of the sub.

youtube.com/watch?v=Rp4JjOJsufA

checked

Was that goku praising the commander?

Space Dandy, his voice was 100% better in the dub than the sub but QT was pretty shit

There's a 250 image limit OP.

Not true.
In terms of acting I'd say they're equivalent, but dub voice fits better

Everyone besides Orochimaru and Sarutobi in Naruto

Lee, Kakashi, Tsunade, and neji were pretty good. There were others who were pretty good that I can't remember off the top of my head. It was only some of the main cast and irrelevent side characters who were really "ruined".

...

I like sub Yu Yu more than dub Yu Yu overall.
Fuck dubs.

>dubs
Fuck off.

Stroheim from Jojo.
It's particularly sad because his VA voiced Caster in F/Z, and he did decently enough in that role. But as Stroheim, he seemed to be concentrating too much on forcing a bad German accent to really cut loose.

dub is god tier
sub yusuke sounds like a little kid
sub kurama is a woman

>Defending generals
