Job market is completely ridiculous

Holy fuck Sup Forums I just want to get into a job that doesn't bait and switch me and suddenly want me to do the job of three people for no additional compensation and for an undisclosed period of time that turns into YEARS.

I just want what the boomers had. I want THAT job market. I want to apply for a job, get it, and do EXACTLY THAT and nothing else. And I want the expectation to be to just do MY JOB and nobody else's "Or else you don't really want this job".

Maybe Millennials are right to be entitled. The current USA job market is complete festering canceraids and something needs to be done.

It's not enough to want something OP. You have to kill people until you get it.

>be at expanding company
>go through restructuring
>ok, anons, we have your new titles and job descriptions
>go to meeting with boss
>same job title
>job description is what the person above me used to do
>pay stays the same
>Congratulations, user!

>its 2017
>he is "working" and not living at home with his parents on disability working out every day and using the money for hobbies to make you a more rounded human being

Nigger what are you doing with your life

The job market will never return to what it was. Get over it, its over.

Stop being a fucking cry baby. Pave your own way or get eaten. Learn a skill and pursue it. Apprenticeships and technical skills like electrician, welding, software engineering, network specialties, etc. will pay you well and you will become useful. If you want a 9-5 office job, you'll just end up like everyone else.

How do I get disability? I'm type one diabetic. I live with my parents anyway and make 40k. But miserable as fuck.

This is unironically the smartest path these days so long as you are also building a side business.

I agree with what you're saying, but you have to remember that the people who raised us are mostly spoiled boomers who've gotten everything served on a plate. They never taught us any valuable life skills, nothing that applies to modern times at least. Shit, when I was 19 and living at home, my dad would drive me to different stores and businesses, and stand back and make sure I demanded to see the manager so I could give him a firm handshake and demand to get a job. They all told me to fuck off and apply online, but my dad told me to be even more pushy when demanding to see the manager instead. And I had to do it his way, or else he would kick me out of the house for being lazy and "not trying" to get a job. It was humiliating, his lessons were worthless, and it took a long time for me to realize that my dad was a clueless overgrown child, and that I had to figure this out on my own.

>Universities for 15 years tell every child that if you don't get a college degree you'll be poor scum and never get anywhere in life

>15 years later market is flooded with degrees and only STEM is staying afloat, but just barely
>People who got college degrees are poor scum and people who didn't listen to the adults of the time and learned a trade are now top dogs

I think it's time to place the blame where it belongs. The education system perpetuating a lie for over a decade.

I am in the same boat man. Went to Korea and taught for a year came back to the USA but haven't worked for a year. Just been living with my parents. Really sucks.

What hobbies are you currently on? I'm doing hydroponics, Python, and Latin at the moment.

Why not go back to Korea if it was a good experience?

If you want a regular job, switch to the unskilled labor departments of retail or fast food and just become a manager of whatever store you apply to. Base pay is shit, the people you'll be working with are (mostly, but not always) insufferable, and (depending upon where you applied) the benefits will suck. After 20+ years of wage-slaving, innumerable 80+ hour work weeks, and utilizing your ambition to climb the corporate ladder, you should be a regional vice president, cfo, ceo, or something along those lines. You should also be making (and already have made) fuck you money. By the time you're 53-58, you should be able to toil for the rest of your days.

Alternatively, you could just stay on as a manager for one of these stores, continue firing your workforce until you have mostly competent and always reliable wage-slaves that do their jobs, and retain a modest, livable income (provided you aren't trying to support a family or anything).

There is a 3rd option, of course, and that is that you stop being a whiny cunt and do what you need to do to carve out a slice of the world for yourself.

Baby boomer logic for getting jobs is complete horse cock.
Fuck them.

Work for the state government. Job description is all that you do.

I'll take

Get a union job.

Wish I could be a NEET desu

The problem with the education system's success model is this: if everyone is educated, nobody is. The only difference in job acquisition among the collegiate is the name of the institution they attended and a well-placed recommendation, and when both of those prerequisites have been fulfilled by several prospects, it becomes a contest of who will be willing to do the job for the least amount of money. Very rarely do you get a case of two graduates vying for one job where the would-be employer is sweating bullets about which one to hire because of the skill level of both candidates. The simple truth is that youths are often too educated and not adequately skilled when coming out of school and into the workforce. It does not help when every institution and company under the sun (that's worth taking a second look at) is insistent that you already be experienced, usually by a magnitude of several years, when applying for a position.

Naturally, this has lead to a decline in the quality of the output of the workforce.

This is why I left the Army as a SFC with 11 years of service. I got tired of doing everybody elses fucking job. I was always number 1 out of X...my last eval was 1 out of 14, but I never got to do my own thing and literally wanted to kill myself, and would have if I didn't have a family.

Oldfag here at 42. I learned about 17 years ago that hard work gets you nothing but more work. I just come in and fuck my employers eyeballs out every day. Been doing it to this place for 12 years. And when I move on to the next place I'll do the same.

blame women, kike bankers and socialist policy.

everything is fucked now. have fun!

Louisville, KY is a fantastic job market if you have a trade or into medical. It is cheap as fuck to live here. It is also an easy commute if you are willing to drive 30-60 minutes. UPS pays $36 an hour and it is easy to get full time if you are willing to throw some boxes for a year.

>2017
>Not supporting, helping to organize,
and paying dues to labor unions.
>Not signing up and helping AFL-CIO or IWW.
>Voting for candidates who love suppressing worker's rights at every turn.

Don't complain, this is the fate you chose.

Nothing was ever handed to me. I have no college education and worked 2 jobs for 10 years straight. I have a savings, a home, a girlfriend, no kids and 2 dogs.

I'm in my mid-30s. If you are too much of a daft cunt to work hard and live out of your car for a bit then you deserve to get smacked in the faggot face.

Go live in homeless shelter OP.

>I just come in and fuck my employers eyeballs out every day

What did he mean by this

Theyre actually cracking down on people living in their cars in my area. Havent had to do it yet but wondering what I would do if I have to.

>not knowing the ancient art of eye fucking

Muh, muh job market!!!

>Supply and demand
So basically
>Start on a trade fresh out of highschool
>Finish trade in mechanical field in four years
>Work for another person for six years following finishing trade
>Build up a customer base, people willing to call me directly instead of going through business
>Created a market for my mechanical trade
>Go independent
>Purchase all tools/equipment needed for mechanical trade
>Four years later start own business
>Continue bringing in money from customer and supply the need for mechanical trade I am in

Huh, literally my own boss, making my own money in my own business and employing a number of other people who also need to make bank. Interesting how the market works. Just makes me wonder if we go full communism, where that demand will go. Surely people will not have a need for certain things my mechanical trade is built around.

Same, there's gotta be some way to get gibs off of t1 so don't be shy nigger

So, let's make employment an actual meritocracy. Here's the plan. We let employers write exams: written, practical, w/e, as long as the grading is completely objective. Now we use these exams. Want to hire a new position? Well put your job (salary and location included) advert out there for tens of thousands to try for. Also, re-evaluate all current employees every 1-3 years to let others have a chance at that job. Now only the most meritorious work the jobs.

Naturally, this will lead to a revolution in the quality of the output of the workforce.

>apply online

Depends where you are in the country user. I live in the middle of nowhere, so the employers here literally have no website. What you dad taught you works here.

No the larger employers in the city, you have to get noticed online via your resume. Be sure to read what is required of the job to include job description and qualifiers. Be sure your resume has those "buzzwords" in there so HR will pick out your resume and forward it. When you go to your interview, pick up where your dad taught you firm handshake. My employer didn't even call my references due to my short, neat hair, shaved face, firm handshake, and appropriate attire (business casual).

>muh hard work
Hard work doesn't matter only smart work

I have a four year degree...literally didn't do shit for me in the workforce. I don't even need a HS diploma. They just want to know trade experience.

>no education
>no trade
>willfully chooses hardest possible life for self
>wants people to take his advice like his life is a success story

Hilarious.

>Work for the state government.
>state
>*federal

Fixed that for you.

eugenics is the answer to our problems. Selective breeding with genius sperm can create people who will be so smart and talented that they'll be able to do anything - do any job, start any business and be successful, etc.

>Nothing was ever handed to me
Typical boomer quote

Who said I worked hard? I just went to work.

This is what normies do. They go to work.

Autists come on Sup Forums and complain about boomers as if it's going to fix their social issues.

There's no real correlation between people who are good at taking exams and people who are good at producing.

I know "programmers" who are masters of little toy algorithms tests that are routinely given during job interviews, but literally can not write a single useful line of code.

Support unions.

The easy route isn't screaming for moms lasagna faggot.

>you have a trade or into medical. It is cheap as fuck to live here.
We also have one of the lowest rates of minorities in the nation. The downside...a lot of obese welfare idiots in the city. Same in the country, but they tend to just stick to themselves.

Find a union job.

Meritocracies do not work, as they operate under the basis that those running them are honest, unbiased, and astute judges of character. If you have ever been in the company of a quality human being (i.e., one that has done things with their life and gone far outside of their comfort zone to get "ahead") then you ought to know exactly why a meritocracy is nothing more than an idealistic sentiment that only ever looks good on paper.

He means modern day employers and the people who supervise and manage are trained and only employed in the art of exploiting YOU in any and every way they can to keep corporate happy.

Sad to admit it, and I hate seeing myself say it, but being a lazy nigger is the only way to stay afloat these days without actually becoming a slave.

I'm confident that the employers will pick up on what the previous set of exams didn't accentuate and fix the exams for the next round in 1-3 years. For example, businesses that need programmers would add sections that require writing useful lines of code as opposed to just little toy algorithm tests. The employers know what they want much more than the schools and colleges know what the employers want.

Anyone else here pay cash for small lots (.25 to 2 acres) and build basic houses to sell?

I have a friend who does this then rents...me I don't like people, so I typically sell. You can usually complete a house a year in your spare time. about 35% I hire out.

I also use to go to estate auctions and buy agriculture equipment and machinery, refurbish it then resell for 3-10 times cost. Craigslist has been incredible.

Just to follow up; it's nothing fancy. usually just 3 bed 2 bath 1500 square foot ranches.

What are you, the fucking Post Office?

Wow sounds amazing, let me just go to wal-mart and buy a refurbisher and house builder kit.

>buy agriculture equipment and machinery

Good idea if you live in agricultural areas.

UPS pays ~$9 and hour you liar. I worked there.

Last real job, marketing for a failed social network, worked all of us 50-70 hours a week. One week vacation/PTO with no increases, no 401k, nothing. Burned out after a year.
But, hey, the boss had five Porsches and everyone in management was making comfortable six-figure salaries.

> Complain about Democrats creating a welfare state
> you Sup Forums nerds are the biggest “gibsmedat”

have any books/courses? also what market (state/county)

The rise in the workers productivity and adding the women to the workforce has made millions of workers redundant. Societies are trying to solve the problem in different ways: overegulation that creates more stupid supervising jobs, military personal and industry, direct money for the unemployed... All to avoid tackle the real problem, but the problem is going to get bigger and bigger. We produce too much of everything, even non fisical stuff, consuming too much natural resources... And not even that way do we employ enough people!

As for the individual point of view... Get a good public job with stability and benefits if you can. If not you will live you entire life under Damocles' sword (99.9%)... or get filthy rich (0.1%).

Wow!

Never thought of that idea!

I got a refurbisher and instant house kit for Christmas when I was around 12 years old. I'm going to go find them and dust them off.

Shut up and make my Mcgriddle.

Hi Steve

This is precisely why the grading schemes for the employer-issued exams must be entirely objective. No matter who is doing the grading, the result should always be the same for duplicate copies of the finished exam. This is what every contender deserves.

I'm a NEET with hobbies. see and

>what is pay as you go?
I do this in addition to working my 6:30 to 2:30

Learn to code idiot

you can get an acre lot for 1500 bucks in Kentucky.

this desu, unfettered capitalism is great.

This isn't exactly a new problem though. Google has written extensively about how there is no correlation with their interviewing practices and the capabilities of the people they hire. They give algorithms tests because they don't actually know what else to do.

Exams are generally a pretty bad way to judge white collar work.

great, now what do i do if i was raised by a single mother and have no practical skills?

this I am building myself a 30 ft house trailer 3000$ then buying land 2 acres lake front 7000-9000$

>Get a good public job with stability and benefits if you can.
What are some examples of this?

hello fellow NEET baron

I work there too as a mechanic. I actually didn't do any package sorting, but I'm the exception instead of the rule.

>UPS pays ~$9 and hour you liar. I worked there.
>worked

You should go back. They pay $10 something an hour plus an attendance bonus of 250 a week.

Hydroponics is fun as fuck. Look up the kratky method if you haven't already heard of it

what do you mean by fuck you employer's eyeballs out?

>tfw mom said she wouldn't let me neet it out
>destined to wageslavery

meritiocracy means the best soldier gets political power which directly leads into monetary compensations. Like a title of nobility. Capitalism paying some guy currency is based purely off of your piety.

Typical Sup Forums niggers and the gibsmedat.

No wonder you don't have jobs.

Where the fuck do you live that 2 acres of lakefront property is only 9k

Bet you wanna be comped too huh OP

The education meme bubble is finally popping

Yup it sucks. Only way is to find another job to bump up pay

They have me a senior title, even though I make 20k below market average.

Plus the new hire makes 10k more than me.

Talk about a double kick in the balls

Not wrong.
Women doubled the work force, doubled the competition, halved the wage, and only do about 70% of the work men do.
Jewish bankers built the stock market which obliterates long term growth for quarterly profits, making businesses go for the quick buck rather than sustainable development. That's why places that lasted a hundred years on good work are dying in droves, and there are no good jobs anymore.

I just work for my family's company desu. Easy af and I'll inherit it anyway

We just need a war. A war will clear up the job market and make people stop being pussies

You need to make a better resume or CV user. You don't just get a job of your dreams. Make a plan on how to get from shitty job to dream job. You dumb nigger. Boomers are retiring and gen x is taking the middle jobs. You benefit from not being totally inept with technology. If oh have an arts degree kys now as even newfags know that is retarded and gay.

>As if my parents let me do anything at home than just cuck chores that they pile on.
I've had more free time than ever working, having my own place and weekends for myself, fuck staying with parents. I'll see em for Thanksgiving.

You can be a cop, firefighter, public attendant for any institution/government...

Or even lawyer for the State, work for the attorney/public prosecutor office, for the justice court... Or the most similar things that exist in your country.

I grew up on a farm so I already had construction experience. In my area, only septic systems need a permit, anything else you can just do what you want...no building codes.

If you are young, the reality is that the trades can make you A LOT of money, but you really do have to bust your ass and sacrifice in pay a little. I recommend just hiring on as a hand for a home builder. Every homebuilder I've known that did it full time/only job always has more money than they know what to do with.

I'm 40 miles SW of Louisville, KY.

a civil war, with a revolution

>for no additional compensation
ask for more money.

i dont mind working more but it better pay more.

How the hell can't they figure out what aspect and type of code is relevant to the job they will be working? Why can't they just fuck with some of their source code then implement fixing that code as a portion of the exam? If companies like Google can't figure out simple shit like this, then they deserve to go under to make way for more meritorious companies.

>it becomes a contest of who will be willing to do the job for the least amount of money.

or who lies the best to stupid women in HR

>this guy is obviously honest about his faults, but really wants the job and has great background
>into the trash
>guy is obviously lying and acting like hes perfect
>youre hired!

god i hate white women

>NEET with hobbies

I'm debt free, not rich, but not many worries. If I could figure out how to score $3k a month being a NEET, then I'd have to look into that life.

I use to be against welfare, etc. I don't care about it anymore. I rather you get it than some nigger in Detroit.

If anyone is interested in agriculture; that industry is nothing but fucking welfare.

What you crave for is a 1950s "fordists" economy. - we are more than past that. It has been dying since the late 1990s.

You wanna red pill? - 80% of humans are currently disposable in advanced capitalism. AI is effectively replacing us.

Even STEM graduates are being proletarised and on the long term will not be able to compete with fast developing AI - which will start replacing them, like tha automised robots replaced automobile factory workers!!!

You may mock social studies & liberal arts degrees but it will soon be the only field where actually existing humans will find refugee .

The only solution to this is a universal basic income - your basic lively needs would be secured, you could be a NEET, or try to start a business, switch jobs, study, ... this is the only way, because the 1950s economy ain't coming back, kid.

are you me

They're "entitled" because people don't understand that constant economic stability can't exist in a technologically changing world.

Thanks user, I'm using 10 old aquariums at the moment.

I am planning on getting into exactly that but building house trailers to avoid building laws/ permits . the further north you go in ontario the cheaper things get. there are 100s of thousands of undeveloped lakes in my province alone .

simple, dont fucking work for them. I can't stand americans who have the power themselves to change things around but then they fall for employers games. There was a thread just hours ago explaining how much harder of a time employers are having filing positions and that its skyrocketing, sometimes taking up to a month. This is a good thing, people are smartening up.

just get a phd in chemistry and become a lab chief. i work like half an hour a week and earn 250k/chf a year

My dad died when I was 9. My mom worked 4:30 pm until 12:30am.

>I was raised by a single mother as well with not one dollar of welfare. (food stamps, etc.)

I think it is important to emphasize I joined the military when I was 18 and did that for 11 years. I'd save my money on every deployment. You can stack money pretty quick if you don't have any bills.
