Worn down buildings, trash everywhere, parks in disarray, highways have no noise protection walls for people living close by, the railway is so old and unrepaired it is dying, bridges are collapsing, kids in bad neighborhoods cannot read or write because they are sitting in classrooms with more than 30 other kids, nobody does any sport, no freedom gardans to grow neighborhood veggies, nature reseveres are being neglected, affordable housing in large cities isn’t available due to undersupply etc.

A better alternative to public sector employment is earned income credits for low wage workers in the private sector. So for example, a person earning five euros per hour from their employer may receive an additional five euros from the government. The amount of gibmees is proportional to the amount of money earned. It also incentivizes the private sector to pay shit wages. We have this system here in Germany with certain 1 euro jobs where the gov essentially pay 6 euros and the employer pays 1 euro per hour plus some social security payments to the state. It is essentially gov subsidized jobs - these employers aren't hiring anyone, they just replace workers who they paid minimum wage before with gov subsidized workers. Our long term unemployed still stands at millions (something you rarely here in Germany).
What we need is to cut gibmees to the long term unemployed and offer them jobs. Fuck the private sector, it will never do jobs out of the goodness of its heart, but always for a profit motive. And it is impossible for long term unemployed to compete against young healthy Eastern European immigrants for a normal job.

I've been homeless twice. Both times I was holding down a part-time job (30 hrs a week, but NO MORE, EVER!) and actively searching for a second part-time job, but couldn't get one because my primary kept me occupied during peak business hours (Mon-Fri 9 to 3).
I would have jumped at the chance for menial but honest full-time work, rather than supplementing my janitor's income by selling loosies and giving handjobs in the corner of a bar.
If the government introduced 4-6 month min wage jobs (temps) they would start making people jobless and recruiting these temps to cover these temp jobs such as security, cleaners/street cleaners/call centers. They have done this in the UK with a job training scheme for those who are claiming benefits; people who are claiming JSA are offered a 6 week experience in supermarkets to stack shelves for no extra money just experience....this is taking other peoples jobs
So don't let the private sector in on it.

Then wont all low skilled jobs in public sector be filled with these non-skilled temp workers for 6 months a time; thus in the end reducing your chances of actually getting the low skilled job there?
