Assuming the wall is 30 feet high with a 6 foot foundation, is 3 feet thick and will span the 2,000 miles of the border, the total cost of the concrete would be $1,140,480,000 at $98/cubic yard.
The rebar, assuming a 1 foot spacing and a square lattice will be $47,456,640 assuming $0.47/ foot
The razor wire would cost $5,702,400 at $0.54/foot on amazon.
the cost of labor would be $35,000 a year for 15,000 workers so $525,000,000.
all added up, $1,193,639,040 in material cost and $525,000,000 per year for labor costs.
for reference, the panama canal cost the US $375,000,000. Generously assuming all of those dollars were 1914, dollars, that's $9,206,962,000 in today's money.
Yeah, but the Panama Canal was actually useful whilst the wall won't do shit. Still a fat waste of money

And it will be worth every dollar.
Parker Thompson
bump
Nolan Price
sounds good
Chase Morris
Absolutely worth it.
Besides, Mexico will pay. We have plenty of leverage. They’ve sat idly by while their filth pours into our borders, choosing to do nothing. They will have their hands full when they are forced to deal with their own.
Hunter Cook
woops. sorry, the concrete would cost $37,255,680,000 at those dimensions. 1,140,480,000 is the volume of the wall in cubic feet.
Isaac Rivera
I think you want to divide that by 9 so it's in yards. 36 feet * 3 feet * 2000 miles is 4.224*10^7 cubic yards, so that's $4,139,520,000 at $98/cubic yard.
How did you work out the rebar? I'm getting $352,387,200, assuming 71 feet of rebar in each foot long section of wall (36 feet vertically, and 35 foot long sections horizontally).
James Phillips
36 ft * 3 ft * (2000x5280) = 1140480000 / 3 = 380160000 yards * 98 = $37255680000
and yeah, i dont know what happened with the rebar
Noah Scott
also, multiply that figure for rebar by two since this hypothetical wall is 3 feet thick and there would be two lattices running parallel
What happens when Mexicans start stealing the wall?
Cooper Miller
Wall is 6 ft? We will dig 7.
Luke Garcia
It doesn't matter. The wall isn't going to stop all illegal immigration, everyone with half a brain knows that. The point is to reduce it by, say, 95%. That's an enormous amount of money saved by not having to spend/lose it on illegals. What's more, the wall's mostly a one-time cost (with smaller yearly maintenance costs), it'll earn itself back in a matter of years.
Leo Rodriguez
Better get a dozer then
Lucas Robinson
The vast majority of illegal immigrants cross the border at a relatively small percentage of the border. The wall doesn't hafta be built across 100.00% of the border to accomplish its goal of keeping the vast majority of mexicans who simply walk a coupla miles to get to the promised land. The goal isn't to stop everyone, its to stop most.
You'll never stop everyone. People got across the Berlin Wall, enough dedication and motivation and it'll happen. It just needs to be good enough to dissuade the 98%.
Wyatt Young
>6 feet deep foundations wew that'll surely stop drug contraband and whatnot
Joshua Cox
Thats not a lot.
Consider how much money is wasted or stolen as a result of illegal mexicans and central americans. Multiply that number by 50 (the last 50 years). Tally up that bill.
Gotta crack them eggs if you ever want that omelet made.
Angel Roberts
So a billion dollar eyesore that will be marginally effective at best? Good thing this shit show will never be built.
Elijah Myers
It’ll never earn itself back
Henry Nelson
>won't do shit It has already done much greater things than the Panama canal. It has triggered SJWs.
Robert Roberts
>the government will surely never spend ONE. BILLION. DOLLARS. on anything that's marginally effective
Lincoln Butler
>the government wastes money, so another billion dollars wasted is fine
Sebastian Myers
>people complaing about unemployment rates >president literally creates a gigantic project >generates 30219331293102 jobs >b-but he's wasting too much, user! fuck off at least he is actually doing something, be glad your president isn't a socialist otter like mine was
