It's been over a week and the government has presented no physical evidence the burner ID "Stephen Paddock" was in any way connected with the dead body found in the Mandalay Bay suite.
Other than a picture and a lot of hand waving, there's no physical evidence to back up the government's story at all.
Thus any speculation about motive - for a man who not only isn't shown to have been in Las Vegas, but could be the cover ID for many different people - is either a waste of time or intentional misdirection.
