"This anime's bad."

>"This anime's bad."
>"Why?"
>"It's episodic."

Watamote wasn't that episodic was it?

I once discussed about Cowboy Bebop with some random guy once and that litterally was his only "argument" against it.

Episodic with shit happenning after many episodes is the best

Some people only marathon shows and don't realize that others watch weekly.

>"This anime's good."
>"Why?"
>"It's episodic."

desu "series" should be episodic

stories that are continuous should not be split up into episodes and should be viewed consecutively in one sitting as a movie

this is one of the reasons why the madoka movies are superior to the series

If a piece of art is delivered as a series then it should be episodic

Lupin does this best.

>I cant watch this on a single sitting, it tires me out, maybe I will finish it in a month or more
>why?
>its not episodic

what?

Said no one ever.

a friend actually told me this when I recommended him girls und panzer

>"This anime's good."
>"Why?"
>"It has great premise and setting, combined with fascinating and lovable characters who interact in a believable way, while they also grow as people as the story reaches its climax."

>I cant enjoy this
>there is no characted DEVELOPMENT

>This anime is not good.
>Why?
>Because it's very popular and has a bad fanbase. The creators should be ashamed of that decision in the creative process.

>NO FUCKING KISS
>S2 RUINED IT

>this anime is boring
>It's a SOL you dumbass! It's SUPPOSED to be boring.

Drrrrrrrr

I've been seeing this one so much recently.

Pretty much. There are no good anime that's episodic.

...

No. They kept a story in the background. It was implied.

episodic by definition should mean there is no proper ending.
ie umaru, konasuba

You have no idea what you're talking about.

2deep 4u.

Episodic doesn't mean it has episodes you dumb shit

I'm sorry I know I'm late but...

What?

You can't be this dumb, can you? This just means you don't know what the topic is. You're clueless.

Did you even read what was posted? It was complete gibberish.
>Episodic doesn't mean it has episodes you dumb shit
What?

>If a piece of art is delivered as a series then it should be episodic
Bullshit. You want all manga to be episodic?

It's a good argument though, cowboy bebop is mostly subpar.

This and "episodic" are new memes.

I drop a show if it

>ntr outta nowhere
>It's forced and melodramatic

If anything, this thread shows how different approaches can increase the enjoyment of watching said series. Or the opposite.

>"This anime's bad"

This anime's bad.

>"This anime's good."
>"Why?"
>"It has cute lesbian girls doing cute lesbian things."

Why?

It's bland.

Is English your second language?

>"This anime's bad."
>"Why?"
>"It doesn't have MC(male main character)"

MC stands for "Main character" you dumb

That's valid though. You want conflict between characters but if two characters suddenly are at war because of a bearly explianed out of character and not actually that bad of a thing to happen reason then you wouldn't be able to help but think "eh
I wonder why they're all doing this"

>stories that are continuous should not be split up into episodes and should be viewed consecutively in one sitting as a movie
There's nothing wrong with telling a story in more than one sitting though.

>"This anime's bad."
>"Why?"
>"It doesn't suit my taste."

My 2 cents:

There's nothing wrong with telling a continuous story in episodes as long as each episode is satisfying in itself. Obviously, "satisfying" is a subjective term, but if a single episode tells it's own complete sub-story while furthering the continuing narrative well, it's the best of both worlds.

Personally, I prefer more continuous narratives then fully-disconnected purely episodic stuff, but there is something to be said for doing each type well.

>"This anime's bad."
>"Why?"
>"It's not serious enough."

Why do people hate fun?

They think it'll makes them look mature.
Kinda the same way coffee is for grown-ups and cereal is for children. Flash news : do whatever the fuck you want.

>"This anime is bad."
>"Why."
>"So I can post reaction images on Sup Forums"

This thread is bad.

Why ?

This is precisely what was the issue with Joker Lame though.

Mushishi
Kino

What.

these are all perfectly valid, see: The comments above are juts the type of shit that people who can't articulate themselves properly would say, which doesn't devalidated their comments. If you were talking to someone IRL and they said one of the comments above and you pressured them to elaborate the would definitely give a response like

Maybe, but I certainly wouldn't accept that shit as a reason for thinking so.

>"This anime's bad."
>"Why?"
>"The ending wasn't dark enough."

Fucking 2003fags

Why episodic anime is bad?

>"This anime's bad"
>"Why?"
>"They showed things first then explained it later."

Why do people want infodumps again?

>"This anime's bad"
>"Why?"
>"Becouse it killed kids"

>gritty snkj type of anime with gore, tragedy and plenty of death
>decisive battle for the survival of humanity
>in the middle of the fight time slows down so the mc can go through a joke/quip and dodge bullets in a funny way while telling bad jokes

Yeah, nothing wrong with this.

There's nothing wrong with quips.

Episodic is a perfectly valid criticism, you retard

There's nothing wrong with that if it's in character. More anime could use cheeky banter.

That's not the series lacking seriousness, that's a series having an inconsistent tone.

The point is that any level of seriousness can be good, but some people just want all edge all the time.

People are just too used to having to sit through 17 minutes of people passing out facts like tour guides in the first episode.

>dislike episodic shows
>Mushishi is basically my favorite thing ever

I'm torn.

;_;

There's points where this has some truth. If a scene is utterly impossible to understand until later, it can be a major flaw. In my mind, a scene needs to be good on its own (even if you don't fully understand everything yet) and then only get better once we get more context later.

Having an incomprehensible scene followed by exposition is just as bad or worse than front-loading the infodump. That said, if you are setting up a mystery, then naturally explaining it later is fine.

hijinks ensue

Clearly you don't intrinsically hate episodic shows then. You just don't like how it is executed most of the time.

Is it because you're a friendless NEET? Try going outside and making friends.

We already have a medium for episodic series: burger TV.

>Having an incomprehensible scene followed by exposition
There was a really bad "mystery" show that aired a few seasons ago that did this but it wasn't what I was talking about. I mean when characters talk about events or concepts in their world in a natural way but people complain that everything going on isn't immediately be put on halt for people to pass the idiot ball around for 3 minutes.

There are better ways to educate viewers on what's going on in these worlds than just having people who should have some understanding of it just go "Huh?" and "What?"at everything for the sake of the viewer, have it be brought up in a subsequent episode, have them feel it out through context or just fucking show them.
