Sickening to the point in which I gagged a couple times. The first ten minutes of this movie are so packed with human tragedy it makes Salo and A Serbian Film look mild in comparison, the imagery and themes so twisted it makes the Holy Mountain feel PG-13.
I always go into these movies with a morbid anticipation, like everybody else, but end up feeling empty and nauseous afterwards. Still, I always end up coming back for more, and I keep getting surprised at how dark it can get. Anime really is a diverse medium.
I found A Serbian Film more effective, this one to me was mainly just ugly.
Brandon Richardson
Serbian Film is one of the funniest things I've ever watched, it's too over the top to be disturbing, something more subdued would have been much more effective.
Christian Morales
I'm watching this right now and i can't stop laughing, It's so overly edgy and melodramatic just for the sake of it.
Samuel Bell
Shoujo Tsubaki was very different from Serbian Film, they are both shock films, but Tsubaki does it in a really bizarre, disgusting way, at least from my perspective. The Serbian Film was not only much less subtle, but also felt cleaner, and the characters hardly reach the level of misery and filth-groveling that Midori does. Sure, you see a baby getting fucked to death, but you don't see the corpse someone's mom's vagina getting eaten by rats.
Ryder Jackson
Not even a little bit phased? I guess i'm pretty soft.
Wyatt Gomez
That's why I said Serbian Film was funny, the baby getting fucked to death was way too cheesy to be disturbed by it. >NEWBORN PORN!
Nathaniel Barnes
The part when the dwarf gets really pissed was cool but i wasn't really shocked at all. It's just too over the top and i'm too jaded to take this seriously,
Samuel Gutierrez
A Serbian Film is more Uziga Waita than Suehiro Maruo.
David Sullivan
That really is the problem with a Serbian Film. I couldn't claim that someone wouldn't be disturbed by it, no, plenty are. It is a disturbing movie but if you are e.g. just a big horror head, not even a jaded person, it loses a lot of its effect for sure. It exists only as a shock film, there really isn't much artistic aspiration there when you look deeper to it. That's what I felt anyway.
Nicholas Rivera
More Rob Rombie than Alfred Hitchcock
Brandon Young
What else do you recommend user? I've watched just about all the mainstream famous stuff, Cannibal Holocaust, Human Centipede, Jodorowsky, Eraser Head, etc. Anything good comes to mind?
Juan Smith
I don't really watch all that much shock horror stuff, I'm jaded to this kind of thing only because i grew up on horror movies. That said i do recommend Genocyber, Angel Cop and Blood C simply because they have well animated and cool looking gore Blood C having the best animated gore out of all anime i watched.
Alexander Smith
Thanks user, time to get jaded.
Jonathan Lee
Tokyo Gore Police. Some scenes are golden.
And read more manga, stuff by Uziga Waita, Kazuo Umezu, Hino Hideshi, Suehiro Maruo, Hayami Jun, Shintaro Kago, Junji Ito, Juan Gotoh, Horihone Saizou, etc. Such manga rarely gets animated.
Aiden Ross
You know, before this thread I hadn't even contemplated reading horror manga, but some of these panels look amazing enough to leave an impression withoug being animated.
Also, Kazuo Umezu looks like japan's Mr Rogers, no wonder he's a sick fuck.
Jonathan Foster
Umezu's stuff is great. Juni Ito is a big name but I often find myself laughing to him more than being scared or disgusted. Worth checking out all the same. Suehiro Maruo is absolutely worth the look.
Grayson Anderson
Where should I start With Suehiro? Ultra Gash Inferno sounds sick though.
Caleb Moore
First, A Serbian Film is a bad movie. Second, Shojou Tsubaki is not sickening at all compared to Salò. How could anyone ever feel sick looking at some mild freak shit like that is beyond me. >Maruo >ugly Are you retarded? Part of the poetic of Maruo is that he makes the most abominable things looks fascinating. >I've watched just about all the mainstream famous stuff, Cannibal Holocaust, Human Centipede, Jodorowsky, Eraser Head So you watched like 5 things? Top fucking kek. What about all the mondo movies? If you don't feel sick watching those then you'll never feel sick unless you'll come across some snuff shit.
Kevin Moore
Just read everything that is scanlated. Ultra Gash Inferno's stories and Laughing Vampire are the best
Julian Brown
>A Serbian Film is a bad movie It's not the best...
>Shojou Tsubaki is not sickening at all compared to Salò Somehow I remember Salo didn't get to me as hard. Being honest I just have a softer spot for animation as well as fantasy themes, I had terrible fear of violent stop-motion animations, gorey anime, and the like when I was a kid.
This is why I think I love Berserk so much. If you read it, do you remember the troll arc? When the trolls go to villages, kill the men and kidnap the women to impregnate them? That cave was one of the best moments in Berserk. Also the insect kids raping and killing each other.
Luke Johnson
I know the community was never huge to begin with, but there seems to be no one scanlating weird/guro/horror/mindfuck things anymore. Apart from the Kago/Ito/Uziga reposts it feels like its been years since I've seen something new. Henshin: Emergence was a nicely twisted bit of human tragedy, but as a horror fan I really do miss the schlocky gore and crazy weirdness.
Is this just because there aren't any mangaka publishing this kind of work anymore? Or is there still a niche group of authors that fail to get scanlated? Is it just time to suck it up and learn moon?
Wyatt Long
Reiteration from above, but I still think early Berserk can be horrifying and twisted, plus gorey as hell. It's not Uzumaki, but we can't be very picky when there's not much getting translated.
Nicholas Cox
The Strange Tale of Panorama Island is gorgeous.
Lincoln Butler
How can you even be disturbed by Saló? Cannibal Holocaust and ST were a bit uncomfortable for me just because of the animals, but Saló is not disturbing at all. It's still a good film, though.
Brandon Bell
Is this movie about rape culture? No joke, when I watched it, it's kind of what I felt it was going for.
Elijah Gray
>Juni Ito is a big name but I often find myself laughing to him more than being scared or disgusted. Worth checking out all the same. Uzumaki was a fucking ride for me. At a point I was scared by the father turning into a literal spiral, but then I was laughing my ass of at the hurricane air battles, then I felt sick looking at the two kids turn into snails (and then fuck)
Jaxson Peterson
>that part with the snake
marquis de sade references man
im haunted by his works, i had to stop watching the movie at that part
