Just because Gohan didn't like to fight, didn't mean that he should've stopped training.
Gohan is an irresponsible hero IMO, that potentially jeopardized the Earth(for good) in buu saga. He was the first Saiyan to EVER reach SSJ2. He could've been the first one to reach SSJ3 as well, but he didn't, because he decided that Cell being gone meant that no more threats could ever pop up, and that things would be gravy. If he didn't have that mindset, then he would've wiped the floor with Majin Buu and the entire mess of the Buu saga could've possibly been prevented(if Gohan didn't get absorbed by Buu after that).
