Notre Dame

It looks so bright. I prefer darker churches but that's gorgeous

This is in Portugal.

The guy who owns that white hotel next I the minster is a character and a half...

This is in Spain.

built by spanish missionaries in California

He's Basil Fawlty irl from what I've heard

Bolton Castle is so simplistically beautiful

Probably about 50% related: Did you know that the design of the Event Horizon (from the film of the same name) was actually based on the Notre Dame cathedral?

>euros gettin' wild during american off-hours

This is the ceiling of Sherborne Abbey, the church of my youth. Each of the bosses contains the arms of a local family, a symbol of royal patronage, or scenes from the Bible and hagiography.

Worshipping in a building like this regularly really instills a sense of what it means to be English and a Christian (as if those were separate categories).

Exactly that!

This is in Czech Rep.

We dont really have anything sophisticated as rest of the Europe, but this is in Helsinki

My University

it was a monastery, i believe the buildings on the right where added later when the school opened up.

This is in Austria.

the ideology of protestantism is that any opulent displays of wealth or power is detracting from God's vision. Protestants maintain that they should be humble, and have humble churches to match

The US was founded upon Quaker values, this is the way they were.

Bamburgh Castle, England

Considering how the majority of yuropoors don't even own houses, I think the Americans win in this regard.

>No back yard
>No garage
>No garden
>No privacy
>jammed into a concrete box with neighbors just a few feet away
Why would you be proud of this? Even bloated American suburbs are infinitely better than living like ants.

My local church built in 1135.

LOL. Beautiful structures made centuries ago in your country by “Masons”.

Toasts your almonds, eh?

> Be American
> Can't build churches
> Thinks Protestantism is real religion

>even says "COUK" on the front.

yeah we do

True.

Americans are very humble and don't show off their wealth.

...

One of the best buildings in Europe.

72 metres

audibly kek'd well played

The original Americans are.

The Quakers who founded the Massachussets Bay colony were an uptight bunch. They believed that any sort of laughter, enjoyment, or pleasure was anti-God. They covered their bodies from head to toe. They'd spend all their time working their fingers to the bone in silence, never smiling, showing any merriment, or pleasantries.

Even today America is touched by these values. For example, the taboos around cursing, or showing nudity

The Blue Mosque in Istanbul.

>Estonian architecture

Interior.

nice, dracul

The European churches built them in such a way so as to display the majesty and power of God. They were houses of worship which spanned across time and eternity. They believed churches to literally be art in the TRUE sense: that skill which is honed and used so as to suggest the eternal, immortal, and everlasting God. Any form of expression that did not do this was a waste of time. That is why they are all so beautiful, filled with paintings, stained glass and sculptures, and why basically every great artist of the last 2,000 years have been Christians and commissioned by the church. But the idea the catholic and orthodox churches weren't humble is sadly mistaken. They humbled themselves so much as to only care what God thinks of there work. They were more interested in the next world than this one; their art reflected that.

Go to basically any church in Italy, Switzerland, Germany, or Britain, and they will take your breath away. At least they took mine away.

I always thought the Protestant one was a bit more different. That they didn't really have the money of means to build giant churches out of Granite and marble. I've seen some beautiful Protestant church's but most are just shacks

A European masterpiece.

Nice try - that mosque was designed by an Albanian, not a T*rk.

Gross

...

I'm an architectural stone mason, I get to work on these buildings for a living, it's good money too.

At least they are shacks and not just commie blocks with a banner at the front like the Protestant churches in Brazil.

So......where do you think those people came from?

Yet we have nice architecture.

...

I know. In Portland Oregon there are Protestant churches with gay pride flags and blm banners. It sickens me

>Be American
>Weigh more than any scale can measure
>XXL shirt cannot contain my potato sack stomach
>Clamber onto electric obesity scooter
>Wipe sweat from forehead and take a 5 minute rest to catch breath
>Ride scooter to walmart
>Buy ZogCorg™ brand cheese* flavoured fried sticks
>Swear at cashier for not accepting your 10¢ off voucher
>I'm just like the first pioneers to settle this land

Futuristic European architecture.

...

That is oddly soothing and peaceful

>No American cucksheds allowed
cardboxes are not architecture anyway

Why does this make me feel relaxed?

>No back yard
Wrong
>No garage
Wrong
>No garden
Backyard=garden
>No privacy/jammed into a concrete box with neighbors just a few feet away
When your houses are made of bricks instead of wood it's not hard to get some privacy

>No Americans
Blow me.

Don't knock on it.
