Not really, in the web novel Rem is in a coma for over 200 chapters (at least the next 10/15 volumes without her), Emilia is more important than her now, her relationship with Subaru and her character have made significant progress in the arc 4.

You knowwhen this kind of one time popular anime get a s2, it usually doesn't get as popular as the first season. Even SAO 2 suffered this phomenon. Bake had this problem as well.
I guess when this get a s2 it won't be as popular. People will get bored with this series and something else will be the hot shit when the s2 airs.
This will be only time this series will be this much popular and it is Rem that enjoys it greatly.
