Sup Forums is too negative about some series. Take Aldnoah. I know a lot of you hated it or didn't like where it went, but can you name some good things you liked about it irrespective of that?

I actually really liked the angle of outsmarting a technologically advanced foe through ingenuity and tactics. Too bad they ran it into the ground.

I will also say that the mid-show cliffhanger was amazingly done. Too bad they chickened out worse than IBO would years later.

I honestly can't think of anything.

Don't tell me you didn't like the cute maid

This, letting real robots face Martian super robots was a nice idea. Too bad it fell apart because a single high schooler and his cybernetic eye outsmarted everybody else.

Does that mean it was fine before he got the eye?

It was okay.

The problem with this series was always that only MC was allowed to be competent.

Well the first season was enjoyable but they just completely ruined it with the shitty S2 so it's hard to be positive about it at all.

>Slaine is my ultimate fap material
>one of my favourite OSTs ever

Considering this was supposed to have been made to surpass Gundam as the defining Japanese Giant Robot series I think anything goes.

Did they really say that?

I liked the music.

>some good thing
Cute character design? and Sawano at least made a mediocre OST this time.

Things that totally ruined the reseies are Eggs, Slaine and Asshime.

Anyways, AZ actually manage to make shit like IBO looks like gold.

>cucked zero

i think we're thru with this already

I stop watching it after seeing how the martian with those superior mech keep getting rekt by the kid. I mean you have to be a retard to lose with a machine that's so much more powerful compare to theirs.

>I mean you have to be a retard to lose with a machine that's so much more powerful compare to theirs.
DEJA VU

First Episode.
Slaine.
OST.

I unironically enjoy Kalafina, the first op was great. The bombastic Sawano OST was him doing his normal thing. The ending of S1 was very unexpected. Also Dioscuria is sexy. That's all the good stuff I can find.

OST was fucking great.

Are we discounting Slaine being a bottom bitch?

I liked the second OP better, though the first was good too.

Saazbaum was a nicely written character.

No.

>comeme

Who do people hate hate the second cour? Its just more of the same really

Because the viewers had crazy theories of what could happen in the second cour and got disappointed. People also didn't expect everyone to survive. The final reason would probably be the ending which was just painful to watch, everyone lost. But on it's own I like S2, possibly even more than S1, it had its good moments.

>everyone lost
Only Slaine did

Inaho and Asseylum reached their goals of peace

By that logic Slaine also won, because he made Asshime's dream come true.

Inaho risked so much to save Asshime, and when he finally reaches her it's not him who talks to her but the analytical engine. Asshime then asks him to save Slaine (who shot him in the head previously) and leaves him on the floor, he has no memory of that meeting, just a recording. Later, when he escapes the moon base he hears how Asseylum decided to marry Klancain. He doesn't talk to her or see her ever again after that, and he gets no recognition as a hero after the war because of all the orders he disobeyed. He didn't get a good ending either.

Slaines dream also included porking Hime though, hes the one who got cucked

>doesn't talk to her or see her ever again after that, and he gets no recognition as a hero after the war because of all the orders he disobeyed. He didn't get a good ending either.

Does he give a shit though? All he wanted was to end the war, which he did.

And he didnt like Asseylum in a romantic way

Yup.

I like the concept but I still think it got bad in season 1 because there's got to be a point where intelligence can not win you a fight against someone with technology vastly more superior then your own.

That's your interpretation, I could just as well say that Slaine just wanted some peace of mind and didn't see Asseylum as a romantic interest but as his personal savior and that Inaho was the one romantically interested in Asseylum.

but all relationship charts say how Slaine feels loyalty and respect towards Asseylum

Inaho is a robot. He isn't interested in procreation except for passing on of genetic information.

slain dindu nuffin.
he a good boi.

That literally only happened with the first Martian mech they fought. It was great, but I'm so ashamed that it never felt the same again. After that, it was just Inaho beating them all because he's "just that smart"

I don't know what that said originally but here's my take.

This is the only thing I liked about aldnoah. Because somehow, not even the mechs were cool

There were a other fights where specialized tactics were used which would not be blatantly obvious.

Don't be retarded and learn Japanese.

He literally said he thinks of her as a part of himself.

But they didn't complete -sexual union- yet.

Why would anyone only like Kalafina ironically? They're god tier.

>yfw Slaine winning was the most logical conclusion to the series
>yfw the writers chickened out for muh hime and an asspull character
Such a waste

I doubt they ever had plans for Slaine to win, he was made to suffer.

Yuki-nee was good.

The rest was shit, even from the start the premise just didn't line up.

>hating on Inko-chan

Was there somebody like that in A/Z? Sounds irrelevant.

I remember all the shippingshit going around when none of the main cast (except for Inko loving Inaho) had any romantic implication throughout the entire show, and then some random character came in and won the Seylum bowl and resolved the war in the last few episodes. That was fun.

I seem to be in the minority here, in that I did actually like the show. It wasn't as good as the producers were clearly hoping it to be, but they did at least have a red hot go at it.

That did stretch plausibility, but I still think it did work, more or less. It's no worse to me than many other robot shows where the main character fights off an army through guts and determination, at least.

>tfw a person's romantic interests are boiled down to a game by people on Sup Forums

And you know it isn't just because they're anime characters. If they talked about celebs they'd wonder who was going to win the Kim Kardashian bowl or some nonsense.

This could have been a good mecha series but it was wasted on a Gary Stu MC and it makes Seed Destiny look well-written in comparison.

I liked the design of the orange trainer mech.

That's it.

Oh, you mean the cute maid who also voices Rem in-

She needs more porn of her

birth·gt·music and Princess Lemrina only.

It's a pity because AZ is my kind of anime. Same with Sidonia but that one is just trolling at highest level possible

S2 had awesome space fights thou. And that one sniping scene.

Really, anime fandom isn't much different from any other fandom, and that does include those who thrive on celebrity gossip.

>A/Z is actually a shitty Pathfinder campaign
>DM finally manages to get Inaho and Slaine together after dealing with Slaine's special snowflake background
>Inaho has -2 charisma modifier because he dumped it for combat abilities
>they can't communicate because Inaho keeps failing Diplomacy rolls and Slaine keeps failing Sense Motive rolls
>Slaine shoots Inaho's mech because "it's what my character would do"
>Inaho retaliates and crits
>DM gets fed up and spends a whole session forcing Slaine into his magical realm at the hands of his DMPC, Cruhteo
>Slaine doesn't show up the next week so DM just makes his character eat dinner with Saazbaum
>Rayet gets bored with Inaho steamrolling combat encounters and kills Hime because "it's what my character would do"
>Marito has a fifteen page backstory that no one gives a shit about
>the DM's plot keeps getting derailed by people making shitty rolls at the worst possible moments
Marketing garbage written by ghostwriters

>a good number of gundam shows feature main characters that start off autistic, but end up becoming well rounded people
>lets make our main character autistic, but eventually make him even MORE of an autist

I loved how threads of the show plagued Sup Forums back then, it was literally the re:zero of 2014.

I really like how so many people realize how stupid that concept is in retrospect and why no mecha anime has done it mostly because they also realize its a stupid idea. A/Z really was a newfag trap because so many elements that obviously were stupid were praised by Butcher cocksuckers or people who have never seen a mecha anime before
This is not true either

I really want to see a show where the main character starts off in an absolute beat of a machine, but eventually loses it and is forced to pilot a grunt suit from then on. I guess kind of like the power creep in MSG, but more severe.

>re:zero
???

yes, it's cancer.

Aldnoah threads had nothing similar to Re:zero

They're closer to haikyuu threads.

It also had wind in space. Though that was probably based on a real phenomenon, I'm not convinced it works as the show depicted it.

I enjoyed watching Inaho be OP as shit but I imagine that'd annoy actual Mecha fans.

He meant in the way they're looked at. A/Z was the overrated, over-discussed show of its season.

it was so hyped when it was airing, it filled Sup Forums's catalog with a/z threads.

it was chaotic, but it was also fun to watch fags fill up the catalog like that.

>but I imagine that'd annoy actual Mecha fans.
Or people with taste

>A/Z was the overrated
But that's not true at all

It's hard to say anything good about the show when the main three characters are so awful.

Hime was more obsessed with peace and the color of the sky then her own sick and dying people. She gets rewarded for sucking off earthling dick and giving up her people's only advantage over them.

Inaho is a lrobot with a Jesus eye that makes Kirito look tame. The way he clutches his eye after every fight in the second season made him look like some chuuni character except even less personality.

Staine was arguably the most interesting character in S2 after he became commander but squandered it because they couldn't figure out what he wanted, I was hoping he'd inherit Salisbury's will and try to help the poor people on Mars but in the end he only cared about Hime which made no sense with the way he treated her later on, he's a mess of a character.

Like: cute boys
Hate: stupid bitch shithime not appreciating best boy's sacrifices

Slaine did nothing wrong. Asshime a shit.

Ost was good. I have an instrumental version of op1 as my ringtone.

It was the gravitational pull from the pieces of the broken moon, it seems like "wind" was a slang for that.

Great OST, ok CG, generic plot, retarded (just as MC) execution

Aldnoah sucked because it was Code Geass as written by Urobutcher but it wasn't allowed to be fun.

Best boy incoming. Slaine is love, Slaine is life.

This is what got the show going for me. The first few fights are some of the best in the entire show. Making a boring gary-stu with godlike mecha-sharringan was ridiculously dumb, but at least he was kept in check due to the Martians superior technology. The Hime was one of the worst female protags I have ever seen in a mecha, even beating out Hime from Iron Blooded Orphans and Fa from Zeta. Slaine's character was fine until he went from an underling to one of the stupidest commanders ever.

But he was a good leader, he got screwed over when Asseylum proclaimed peace out of the blue and for some reason the other counts turned against him. Which makes no sense, because they almost managed to conquer Earth and Asseylum suddenly changing her stance after 2 years makes no sense.

I smile whenever I think of episode eight, with the prolonged gunkink torture scene out of nowhere and Cruhteo getting unceremoniously offed. This show was a mess.

The counts didn't turn against him, he ordered them to stand down which made no sense because he refused peace like 2 episodes earlier.

>gunkink torture scene

I masturbated to that.

Daily prayer for Saazbaum-nii staying alive.

No, the other counts turned against him, the only people he ordered to stand down were the ones in the moon base, because attacking now would be suicide.

If they had killed Slain at the end I would have liked it, but they chickened out.

>power difference solved by sharing Aldnoah
>not Terrans developing their own method of leveling power difference, i.e. a special weapon developed underground for a couple decades, while war drags on, and eventually inflicting enough damage to cause Martians to panic and withdraw, planned invasion of Mars
>or Terrans showing superior tactics/strategy because of thousands of years of battlefield experience compared to a bunch of scientists/aristocrats with overpowered mechs
>or Terrans dragging war on for decades as diversion while building superweapon away from their radar, eventually threatening a surprised Vers with total annihilation

Feeling inferior to Versians that just borrowed alien tech and that's just a couple decades old and being saved by the bell because Terrans are too weak sucks desu.

>LITERALLY one teenager outsmarts every single person on the planets earth and mars
i liked the tactics+lack of scruples>"honorable war"+aldnoah drive, but inaho was awful from day one and just got more awful as time went on

>le FATED RIVALS and EBIN SHOWDOWN
fucking inaho and slaine having a stupid mech duel was the stupid capstone to a stupid show; most trite shit possible

>three people get fucking ventilated in S1 finale, all three end up totally fine (and only one even suffers any sort of lasting damage)
the most toothless, pathetic squandering of an amazing cliffhanger i have ever seen

the soundtrack was good, at least, but

>everything but the soundtrack

I thought the Tharsis's movements were well done.

He ordered an all out attack on the undefended bases on earth, Hime showed up and undermined his authority, he gave up and ordered the ones loyal to him to stand down.

The backgrounds and some of the designs are underrated, the landing castles were beautiful.

But who was Aldnoah

The concept of super weapons being taken out by grunts is something I like.

The execution is what made me hate Aldnoah/Zero.
What's the difference between having useless teammates and soloing super weapons yourself with your superior intellect and an idiot pulling new powers out of his super robots ass? There is none in my eyes.

It would've been better if the whole gang, or at least most of them had done something major, rather than them all jobbing until Inaho was finished doing his asspulls every time.

>Too bad they chickened out worse than IBO would years later.

Can' be. IBO is worse than Gundam fucking AGE.

Those are nice looking

>useless teammates and soloing super weapons yourself with
That's why fight against the very first Mrtian mech was very good. It wasn't just Inaho outsmarting everyone, it involved teamwork and combined efforts of all the students. But they dropped that approach very fast and it became just smart Inaho and pointless everyone else.

Good things:
Premise of the story.
Mecha fights (early on).
Soundtrack.

That's it. There's not a single well-developed character, the plot progression gets retarded, and even the fights get stupid with the eye bullshit and how nobody except Inaho is allowed to do anything ever.
