Reddit got in PR trouble and labeled as a """far right website""" just for allowing /r/the_donald to exist, but it would also have been a nightmare to delete it. Wanting to maintain the illusion of "free speech", they changed their algorithms and moderation rules to intentionally stomp out right wing beliefs.
They're pandering to their most valuable customers. I would say most businesses that give into sjws, like the Boy Scouts, are making a mistake, but Reddit is actually pandering to it's core demographic to maintain their business model. It's probably smart of them.
Not to mention they literally hired CTR employees to moderate their forums.
