My teachers did as well, from middle school through high school. I know quality of education probably varies from area to area, and probably from time periods as well. For example someone who graduated high school in current year may not have the same kind of education that those of us who graduated in the early 00's.
My world history teacher in HS was pretty good, learned a hell of a lot more from him than any other history teacher I had growing up. He was head coach of the football team and seemed to be pretty intelligent. Despite being part of the southern public school system, many of my teachers were pretty good.
I graduated 09. Personally I believe there's way too many factors to come into account of what one learns and one retains. Personal bias on teacher and/or student, quality of school (skill of teachers, funds), geographic location, school demographics, culture, individual student's economic, genetic, cultural background, the fucking weather. Way too much to consider to be making the guessing game. All I know is that I had big bull liberal dykes teaching a couple social studies class and I they told me about hitler's charisma and intelligence. I know that the majority of what they taught me was from an objective stance, regardless of their feelings about what he did and other contentious points in history. They taught us about Israel's many wars and skirmishes since its inception, among other things. It was a comfy/10 learning experience
