Everything you said I agree with. I do think an economic event is coming up, I'd venture to say I know so. You look at the debt/deficit in this country to it's GDP and unfunded liabilities. ..it's simply unavoidable, I do think however as complete of a collapse it might be it's something that the modern day economy can quickly heal from. It's completely dependent on government interference however. Great depression was accompanied by the dust bowl, and a great level of government interference due to FDR. We don't have the dustbowl, but instead a migrant situation...it all depends on how the government approaches the situation if there will be what I think will be multiple revolutionary vanguards, or if things will just be awful for a year or so.
Not too big to fail, the recovery is what we would need to watch for. If we bring about factories and those type of stable jobs back to the U.S. before falling off the cliff everything will be fine because we'll be able to manufacture internally, as well as provide our own agriculture obviously. If we're dependent on foreign manufacturing, while our currency goes down the toilet...we're pretty fucked and will take a bit to get back to a decent standard of living for middle class, and lower class americans.
