Should he have killed Reinhardt? Was it the right thing to do?

Should he have killed Reinhardt? Was it the right thing to do?

He didn't seem to think so.

No. Reinhardt was the only one capable and willing to unite humanity under a better system of governance.

>better system of governance
Tell that to any generation that follows them.

The generations that follow are going to enjoy emperors shittier than Reinhard applying shitty policies with no obstacles other than the occasional dynastic struggle resulting in destruction and bloodshed.
Democracy would put an end to this cycle by limiting the power of rulers and giving all people an orderly and non-violent channel through which to exercise their ambition to rule.
In a transition like this, the commoners would support it because they get more power and the various noble factions would support it because they get recognition and participation. Only the emperor's faction has a real reason to resist, which is why an open-minded emperor like Reinhard would have been an asset to the democratization of the Empire.

He creates a rebel army contrary to the will of the government anyway, it was pointless for him to accept surrender if he was just going to break the law anyway

It's fucking delusion that extending political rights undoes social disorder and eventual decay and destruction. If anything, it only delays public anger at governmental abuses because they think they have a choice. Enlightened despotism all the way

>overthrow the empire
Nah, a dead traitor is a good traitor.

You sound like you've read your Plato, so you should know that an enlightened despotism would depend on a large upper class of extraordinarily capable and like-minded people to survive for more than a lifetime.
This is far from realistic, both in our world and in LoGH's universe.

Kaiser Alexander will certainly be a superior ruler than his father he got all the good genes.

It's LoGH, not Metal Gear, it doesn't work this way

No, I don't believe he should have, it would have led to way more bloodshed than reinvigorating democracy later.

By this point the empire outnumbered the alliance something likes 5:1?

Yang personally was opposed and only made a rebel army when he couldn't simply retire and be left alone, even then it was something he thought would take Merketz years.

The thing is, Reinhardt only managed to climb all the way up to emperor because of the war with democrats. Otherwise he would have never be given command of an army and also without so many victories he would have never been able to create a faction. So if anything his story serves as testament that non-democratic systems usually are unable to evolve without the help of some kind of external influence. Feudal China and Japan can also serve as example. So yes, Yang should have vaporized the bastard because single global goverment is a bad idea and if is of feudal inspiraton then is even worse.

Well Yang was one swing from his arm from winning the war for the FPA but he had to go full >muh values and accept the cease fire and unconditional surrender order from this """""politician""""""
Still I love Yang

Hell no. Reinhard undid hundreds of years of super shitty policy and was running the only functional government in the universe. Without him it would've turned into the Reunthal and Mittermeyer VS literally everyone else show and the people of the Empire would have suffered for it, while the FPA would've continued to be the same shady shitshow it had already been

Yes, that is to say his reasoning for the choice is absolutely justified, though the consequences of course would prove otherwise. It's one of those Yang situations where even when he's wrong, he himself is so absolutely right he becomes unquestionable. A subordinate should never ignore or betray the leader, especially when that leader has been democratically elected, because then he's actually betraying the will of the people. In this case the people were deluded and tricked, but if one were to start deciding they know what's best for people, especially a military leader, then democracy becomes an military autocracy.

>become leader
>have you as subordinate
>"user, I orderneren you to FIRE ZE MISSILES!"

Just because I won't betray you doesn't mean I won't insult you if you're dumb President user.

Yup, also to Yang democracy was an important part of the chain of command as it were.

Has there ever been a military dictatorship that has not turned to shit?

>kaiser alexander

heh

Easy there Janosz.
