It didn't seem 30 years behind when I went there, but it did seem very provincial. I liked it is very much like the UK.
At my last we had lots of Somalians and Romanians. Lots of the Somalians had grown up in Denmark and quite a few Romanians had spent time working there. The Romanians thought you were racist because you wouldn't speak English but the Somalians thought you were the same as us.

It depends on how much work you want to put into it, but if you do start learning danish Norwegian is WAY easier to get. And after being somewhat decent at danish you will also be able to learn Dutch very fast.
