In Ancient Greek the mark looked like the ancient Greek numeral for 666. Greek scholars agree that the caligraphy is inconsistent though, especially for the number 60 and 6. The mark was then associated with the possibility of it referring to the Arabic calligraphy and through research we can see that the symbol in the middle of the mark does look like the word Allah in Arabic.
