is the sailor uniform still trendy in japan

i wear mine everyday

I think there's something funny going on with my deck.

well that settles it

there's two card types for each note in your deck

I wonder why.

Wanted to give a slight update on things regarding the site linked in the op site, under the title "Grammar Reference".
Concept image note conversion status:
Basic volume: 60/203 concepts converted.
Only the first 20 concepts reflect this on the site, I'll update the other 40 tomorrow. Otherwise, progress seems to be going okay and the tables and conjugation charts convert pretty well to text.

Also, I've changed the volume pages slightly, tweaking the colouration to make it a little easier on the eyes, confined the content into tighter margins and added a "night mode" version of each page. You can switch back and forth between the day and night versions with a link above the table of contents. Figured that for those reading at night, etc. might want something a little easier on the eyes. Feel free to make any related suggestions.
Pic related is a screenshot of the same section of the Basic volume page, side by side so you can see the difference between the night and day versions.

Night mode is a great idea, not a fan of the colors though. Personally I'd prefer a dark greyish background and white letters. I know reddish is good for your eyes or something but it looks pretty shit.

>Night mode is a great idea, not a fan of the colors though
Feel free to make some suggestions, I can pretty easily change anything.

first of all, use an off-black instead of pure black
second, don't use that particular shade of blue

Code points, if possible.

Makes it easier for you to end up with what you want, because I can pick a thousand darky greyish colours and have them all look wrong to you.

>書いては消し、書いては消して、手紙を書き上げた。

Why the first is just 消し but the second 消して?

Writing is to be erased, with the writing erased finish writing the letter?
What the fuck am I looking at

a grammar form you haven't learned yet

And that grammar from would be?

383838 for grey

Actually, can 消す mean like stopping to do something, as in 消す'ing a verb? So "stop the writing, after stopping the writing conclude your letter" or something?

You can fuck right off poser boy

how about 消すing your ポスティング

If I remember correctly, im mixed usage of masu stem and te-form, te-form serves as a comparatively stronger separator of statements.

With that in mind, you can see your sentence as a two-part statement.
>書いては消し、書いては消して、
describing the process
>手紙を書き上げた。
describing the result.

Also you can use this mixed usage to imply time lapses in sequences of events. Imagine you go camping. You arrive at the stop, you raise the tent, you start a fire. If you bind the first two with mase stem and then the third one with te-form, arriving and raising a tent will be seen as two actions directly following each other, and starting a fire would be seen as somewhat removed from them. Not necessarily by a long time or anything, but somewhat.

It's a stylistic tool you can use in your writing.

Tbh I hope I remember this correctly and it's not all in reverse... but your example logically seems to fit into what I'm saying.

When you run out of steam, stop, and finish up.

おはようおにいちゃん

Nevermind, totally ignored the past form at the end. Get it now.

Don't get upset at me just because you don't understand something mate.

Yo, my kind djt folks. While watching Danshi Koukousei I found this youtube.com/watch?v=CY8ze5Q_LY0 at 1:20 we see the blue-haired chick says something like ある意味あっているよ meaning "to be right in a way"
Did I get that right? And can I use that phrase wherever?

Anyone know the latest version of FF where rikai still works? I upgraded to 40 and it's broken completely.

>40
I'm at 48.0.2 and every works perfectly.

Sorry I meant 50

Learning Japanese isn't about anki, it's about how much native material you consume

俺はもうやったぜ。

but if i try and watch NHK news on SBS its depressing

>tfw reviews were slowly piling up with ~75% retention
>got 85% retention today so tomorrow will be easy again
feels good

Then I guess I can learn Japanese!

Holy fuck, your post reminded me of the existence of 僕とツンデレとハイデガー. There were some threads about it when it came out and I remember wanting to read it, but of course then I couldn't yet read Japanese so I forgot all about it, but now I'm confident I could get through it. I'm gonna order it and hopefully mine some interesting philosophy vocabulary. Thanks user!

>Martin Heidegger was a German philosopher and a seminal thinker in the Continental tradition and philosophical hermeneutics

wtf is this shit

It's a book where famous philosophers have been turned into high school girls.

I struggle with philosophy in English. Is it simple one dimensional characters or are there actual philosophy infodumps?

Be reborn as a not ESL then.

Being a native German or ancient Greek would be much better though.

I have no idea what it's going to be like yet. On some Amazon reviews some japs thought that if you don't know much about philosophy, some parts may be a bit tricky. According to the description the main plot seems to be about a guy being surrounded by cute philosophers and growing as a person, so most of it might be normal LN stuff. I'll report back when the book arrives and I read some of it.

Im guessing its when they convert wi to i and hu to u and shit
