My dad is more openly racist now. My grandfather and I discussed how America backed the wrong horse in WWII. The women in the family mostly remain silent on politics but they've always been for traditional christian family values.
I mean, I haven't exactly brought up holocaust revisionism or anything but I regularly bring up various cohencidences as they relate to current events with a raised eyebrow and actually name the jew.
My wife's been the toughest nut to crack. I throw her alt-lite tier arguments out there and she agrees but then when I turn it up she backs off.

I’m probably the only firm believer in Catholicism in my area, people know I’m religious but not full anti-modernist/degeneracy. If they knew they would think I’m weird. I’m also a race realist which I can openly declare in my home town but not back in Amsterdam where I study. I’m not a Jew hating nazi so I guess I got that going for me.

I don't deny the holocaust. Numbers are inflated, advance indirect casualties as primary casualties, and advocates have taken every chance along the way to coddle some baseless stories that sound good for "the cause," but that doesn't take away from the fact that it was a real event with a terrible death toll. But when a man provably breaks another man's skull, the victim claiming additional abuse that didn't happen just risks the entire prosecution. Lies are ridiculous, unnecessary, and give the other side ammunition, so the lefties who push them are as bad as the outright deniers.
I don't hate immigrants. I hate illegal immigrants, the entitlement mentality that surrounds them, and the idea that my government might prosecute a citizen for something negligible and stupid but will willfully ignore foreign invaders. I also hate the open borders mentality that presumes that unvetted refugees and those seeking taxpayer support should be subject to no restrictions on human rights grounds. Immigration should add to, not detract from, the culture, economy, and safety of the country, and immigration laws should be followed strictly.
So no, my family and I don't have disagreement because it isn't some "racist vs. liberal hero" argument. The left just knows they score points when they try to paint it that way, because leftists have become the world's most expert liars and propagandists.

In a world that values groupthink over individual freedom of expression, and with a world full of zombies who want to criminalize unpopular speech, yes, keeping your views quiet is smart. Learning to lay low and wait for the time to stand up for your views prevents you being a bug on a windshield.
