I mean, I liked it, but 5 stars is excessive. They introduced the whole "Space Plantation" plot-line and then did absolutely nothing with it.
And the cast was a who's-who list of edgelords: kid with the gun who kills things, girl who loves her teacher so much she forgives him for recording them fucking, Motoko Kusanagi from the alternate dimension with the cyber-brain, angry onii-san who beats up his imouto. I'm sure there were more cryhards in there, but I don't remember off the top of my head.
The robot was cool and different from typical mecha shows.
