Can any animes top Your Lie in April or Toradora! for pure romantic heartstrings-tugging? Also general romance discussion.

YLiA was honestly the mist feels I've ever felt

>Your Lie in April or Toradora

Babbys first forced drama shows.

Most*

At least update your taste.

>animes
>thinly veiled rec thread
>Shigatsu being anything but absolute garbage
Fuck off and kill yourself, newfag.

>implying fantastic plot and amazing (at least for Your Lie in April) animation is forcing it
Why don't you give your definition of a good drama if you think these are so shit

i had to drop shigatsu because i got spoiled and i wish that it didnt end that way

>fantastic plot
>amazing animation
This has to be bait, right? Shigatsu's "plot" consisted of several hamfisted drama subplots slammed together half-assedly, and the animation was run-of-the-mill.

Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun.

yeah, boku no pico, i cried for days

Lurk more, it's airing this season.

>implying shigatsu was about the plot and not about mood and theme

Koi Kaze is pretty decent.

>Also general romance discussion
>animes

Where did I imply that? He said Shigatsu had an amazing plot and I told him he was wrong.

That said, the mood was also garbage - they'd swing between somber moments and slapstick comedy, and they talked all through the performances.

Wasn't the mood 90% the MC being a giant pussy and 10% the MC girl being a tsundere? I felt absolutely nothing when she died because she had no personality.

get in here lads

>Your Lie in April

>mood
Shigatsu's mood was wildly inconsistent, and they couldn't construct an actual sad scene or empathetic characters to save their lives. They just threw in stereotypically sad story elements and some pretty colors and hoped that would do the job.

taiyoh no ie
bitter virgin
natsu no zenjitsu

feels were had, of differing variety, but I liked them.

>taiyoh no ie
Best love story ever told in a mango

>all time greatest of all time

Yes don't you get the emphasis buddy?

Taiyou no Ie and Bitter Virgin are pretty good (though Taiyou no Ie got bogged down a bit in that love polygon shit in the middle), but Natsu no Zenjitsu shits the bed hard. I didn't care about the MC's hipstery mono no aware angst, I cared about the cute romance.

>though Taiyou no Ie got bogged down a bit in that love polygon shit in the middle
Eh, it was never really any contest. Younger brother was just adding a little bit of drama, but it was obvious that it wasn't harmful. After one chapter the author said the story was based on her mother and father who are 10 years apart, so it was only ever really about two people healing their families.

Plastic Memories

>Eh, it was never really any contest.
Of course it was never a contest, but that doesn't make those parts more interesting or fun to read.
>it was only ever really about two people healing their families
And sticking more closely to that would have been better. Though again, I still liked the manga.

This.

It would have been nice to have more background, but I felt like I understood the MC's feelings

...

This

I have to agree that Your Bait in April had amazing visuals and animation but goddamn the story was going everywhere

Clannad pls. Op pls.

You haven't read many mangoes if you think that generic soap opera is the best.

Thats Maison Ikokku, plebian

Go. Just go away, youngblood.

Im so confused about how YLiA is so popular. Started it a couple days ago; still have 3 episodes left. I read the synopsis and thought it had an interesting plot. Its fuckin shit most of the time.

The competition/concert scenes are great. Really captures the atmosphere well. But holy shit there are so many episode where there are like 4-5 characters all fucking crying about completely unrelated shit and the episode goes all over the place.

Then it falls into the same old tired, cliche, unfunny anime slapstick gags. I dont think I even smirked at a single joke in this whole series.

Finally you have these 12-14 year old characters having these intense internal monologues dealing with their thoughts and emotions. Its unrealistic. A fucking 12 year old isnt this deep, even if theyre a musician.

This is coming from someone who really enjoyed Toradora despite the forced drama. Compared to that though, YLiA has about as much forced drama in a single episode as Toradora has in half the series.

The music scenes at least save it from being unwatchable though. Definitely wouldnt recomend the series to a friend unless they were into classical music.

>Shigatsu wa Kimoi no Kuso
Are these niggas serious?
Any run of the mill romance series airing right now is better than that garbage.

You'd have to be a 14 year old who only started watching anime a few months ago in order to appreciate Shitgatsu.

My favorite parts were every six episodes when they remembered that the childhood friend had some sort of romance plotline going with her senpai, so they'd just throw in two minutes of her walking with him or whatever as though anyone cared. Or the like two times the entire series when they remembered that Kaori was technically going out with MC's friend.

then what is user?

I haven't watched TADA BANARI yet. What am I missing?

>animes

Nothing

>taiyoh no ie
It was decent but just another run of the mill shoujo romance where every character's personality stems from very silly things and miscommunication. The girl was extremely cute though.

>shoujo
>silly things and miscommunication
i mean.......
what does user-kun recommend

Anything made by Chika Umino or Akiko Higashimura

>animes
>post about Shigatsu
Y'all niggas posting in a bait thread.

Toradora is a masterpiece.
April Lie is a forced cheap tearjerker.

But Chika Umino's romance brings only frustration.

yeah i know, it fucked me too dude. nothing has compared and i dont know why

Oreimo

LovCom did it better.
Toradora is second rate.

I was going to post this too. It's definitely at the top of my list.

if someone could compile a list of must watch romance...i'd really appreciate it

A scary-looking boy falls in love with a wacky girl.

Unable to confess, he is gifted by a deus ex machina with a midget girl's help. Never minding the strange circumstances, he immediately accepts the help, and is overjoyed to find out that she has a crush he could help her with as well.

Hijinks ensue as the two strike up a deal to give each other the darkest, most private secrets of their crushes in order to equip the other with the weapons they need to conquer the hearts of the objects of their affection. While the two chase their respective loved ones, DRAMA ensues as they begin to fall in love with each other instead and question the NATURE of LOVE.

>Akiko Higashimura
Kuragehime has brought me the first love triangle I've ever been invested in. I honestly can't decide on whom I want to win.

At least cure your autism

>YLiA was honestly the most melodramatic shit I've ever seen
FTFY

My favourite. I wish all anime couples could get together based on pure compatibility and 'clicking' the way Koizumi and Otani did, I can't fucking stand awkward couples who spend more time being shy around each other than having fun.
