Sure, let me wait for an anime to actually look that good.

It still has a ways to go

Regardless, when you look at the grand scheme 3D is still incredibly young and it has come a very long way in a short time, it's only natural with all the continuous research and advancements, as well as improved technology, that it improves.

>that limited animation CG
Disgusting.

but that looks like trash

It still looks uncanny as fuck, and probably will continue to until we're all dead and the generation of mouthbreathers who grew up on it will find it acceptable.
Meanwhile actual currently airing anime still looks like graphics off a PS1 that's sat too close to an MRI

>you have to draw the girls from every angle to make it even work
>still looks shit in motion
Not impressed. Nothing still beats skill and effort.
Trying to find a shortcut you'll just create something else.

No such things as shortcut.

Indeed. I've watched that before and had that in mind.
Nothing beats skill and effort, which are going to be needed regardless of the approach.

Well, the character designer already provides different sketches, it's not a big step. Also, once you have a model say of a girl in a school uniform it's easy to change it slightly to obtain the model of another girl (except the head).

Everything comes at a cost. Can you imagine what you are losing when switching or combining mediums?
Is it worth what you are gaining?

I think the problem in 3D lies in motion. If you pause any series that's done in 3D the stop motion looks often really decent. It's the movement that looks unnatural and jarring, as do the videos you posted. I feel like the creators of this have approached the problem of 3D from totally wrong direction.

just create this shit thread in /ic/

Don't know about animated series or movies, but that would be a great tool for visual novels.

Why does the industry keep pushing for 3d shit? It looks garbage and isn't necessary. You don't look at a manga and think wow this would be better if it were 3D; the same applies to anime. Just because you can fucking rotate the model more cost efficiently doesn't make it inexplicably and innately superior. It's a 2D medium and should stay that way.

Look at 3D 20 years ago in the 90's with the sheer amount of limitations and see the incredible strides that have been made across the board. It's astounding how far it has come and how much more accessible it is to use.

Considering how young most are here it's hard to imagine how far it would improve even in just another 10 years, let alone 20, 30, 40+.

Because it's cheaper, easier and more time efficient. Here's the reply stating the obvious in case you needed it.

>it's another /3d/ thread
>expect shit
>get shit

Wew, you realise the only reason things are animated in 3D is because it's cheaper right? It's not because it looks good.

Yeah, 2D is so much superior it's not even funny. Nothing beats hand-drawn, I don't get why they even bother trying

>a still frame
>in a thread about animation
>cherrypicking

Go back to your board.

Berserk was a mistake.

Excellent point, good sir, still frames utterly fail to depict the life these designs gain in motion. 3D will forever look unnatural while giant leaps have been made in the art of hand-drawn animation in the past ten years.

3D can be good if they have a decent budget.

gantz:o is awesome

...

If 3d is so good, then why is berserk anime so shitty?

Still looks stiff as fuck, that is the main problem with 3DCG.
Only these guys' approach nailed it, but yeah, it took extra time and extra effort, that is exactly what people developing live2D want to avoid.

>look how I post low budget anime stills as if they'd use anything but the lowest budget 3D instead
Everyone knows that Konosuba looks like shit and that harem anime have no budget, user.

Both those youtube links look like absolute garbage.

This could be decent if it weren't for the shit direction.

This thread is more relevant than your "I want to sniff X butt" retard.

Is 3DCG another form of 3DPD?

What the fuck is this i need to know

Post that webm, you know which one.

>Animation are still images
The animation in the second video looks like a ps3 game cutscene playing on low fps, it just makes me think my pc is lagging, it looks like shit.

and it looks like that because there are no exaggerated in betweens like 3D just recently became able to look half decent, the animation aspect is still a pile of shit, it has a huge way to go if it ever gets anywhere other than video games.

gantz worked because the style is semi realistic and could be adapt to 3D
or art style evolved through 2d hand drawn, especially big bug eyes, so it looks uncanny as fuck

*other art style

No

Fucking disgusting.
Enjoy your shit 15 fps cgi garbage.

Yes.

sauce? Doujin?
