How is your main protagonist accidentally going to stumble on the girl?

it wouldn't be considered anime

most anime is drawn by koreans and chinese anyway.

and nobody besides this board gives a fuck.

most filler is drawn by korean/chinese

normies think avatar, boondocks and wakfuk are anime.

in the end nobody gives a fuck.

/ic/ would probably be more helpful

The Heroes and Heroines books are pretty good for character design

If your goto resource is Sup Forums you're going to fail

everyone on Sup Forums and most anime related websites do

that's not the real world though.
japs were into katawa shoujo last time I checked.
also japs love that Ruby 3D youtube series.

>wakfuk
Since it's French, it's technically animé.

in the end everything is animation, so the regional distintion is quite silly.

If I post a rwby thread here it will get deleted in a few minutes

that doesn't disprove the fact japs make a shit ton of fanart off it.

So enlightened. In the end, everything that goes in your stomach is food, so the taste/characteristic distinction is silly.

the style diferences don't depend on being born in japan though.

by example panty and stocking isn't anime but a cartoon.

Don't

Learn the basics of animation first. Buy (or steal) these books:

>the Animator's Survival kit (by richard williams)

>Elemental Magic - the art of special effects animation (by joseph gilland)

Then get an animation program that's easy to learn, like Flash, or TVPaint. Read those two books, take notes, and then learn what goes into even a second of animation. Keys, breakdowns, secondary action, anticipation, etc.

Once you know what to look for, stop reading shit. Just draw your ass off, until your fucking arm falls off. Watch your favorite anime, pause and look at how they do shit. Try copying it, but not tracing. Examine how they did it, and do it your own way.

Then start posting on forums, talking to other animators online. Sharing your work. You will never get a film done by yourself, but you will make a lot of cool shit. If you want it badly enough to get through the hard times, though.

This was made in flash by an Austrian animator who works in Japan now (Bahi-JD)

bahijd.tumblr.com/

got anything on cynematography?

The 5 C's of Cinematography by Mascelli.

It's old, but a god damn classic. Learn the basics, then apply that with observation. Watch what you like, while understanding why it looks like it does. Then try making it.

Don't paralyze yourself with too much shit to read. Just learn enough of the basics to apply it. 99% of what you get will be the blood/sweat/tears from drawing nonstop.

thanks, my plan is to make something using extreme limited animation, like hanna barbera, I was looking at their cartoons and see how they do it.

Something like this? It was animated by one guy, but I don't know how long it took.

more like an animatic with some bits of real animation.

also planning on using cutout animation.

there's a shit ton of techniques to save animation.

Shitposting on the 4chinz during your break, Bahi?

>nobody
that's not how you spell normies

they make fanart for DOOM and South Park and all kinds of shit.
that doesn't make it anime faggot.

>panty and stocking isn't anime

the story archetype, flow of the story, graphic style, gags, are of american cartoons.

same deal with avatar following more anime conventions than panty and stocking.

like I said, in the end both are animations.

would be like saying mcdonalds made in japan are japanese and sushi made in america is american food.

Are you going to be happy with something made with cut-out animation? Quality always beats quantity, especially if you're a 1-man team. Do it properly (hand drawn, no gimmicks), and make something even 10 seconds long.

If you want to tell a story, draw a comic

I dunno, I guess I could try to draw 5 seconds gifs and do the story as a comic then.

Are you really this obtuse?
I'll make it really fucking simple for you.
If it is anime, it is Japanese.
If it is not Japanese, it is not anime.

american sushi = american food
japanese mcdonalds = japanese food

A motion comic could turn out really well if you pick and choose the right moments to add animation. Imaginism studios (an online digital painting school) made one on an epic scale (kickstarter trailer below)

Find a way to balance the best you can do with the time you've got.

Do you really think your food analogy means anything?

it's the same.
besides is a discussion only autists give a fuck.
nobody in the real world gives a fuck.
France studios do work with japanese ones in several series and disney sells merchandizing in japan.

We're all in the real world.
The people who don't give a fuck are people who don't like anime.

the only people that matters are the ones that buy anime DVDs and merchandize though.
overseas market is pretty much a second hand one.
