How much wire do I have to run between the trees in my backyard to listen to the quacks on shortwave?
Cameron Flores
26 or so feet might work. I have a 52' long dipole I use.

I would just lay it down instead of putting it in the tree, 20-30 feet works good. More is ok, but might not improve that much. You could also put more wire in a star, asteriks like position * which will improve quality too.

I'll give it one last bump.

lay it on the ground? I thought these things had to be up high, or as high as you can get them.

Bump muh dik up ya ass

It's due to ground wave propagation. Only really works at lower frequencies. Here's some info:

Quick rundown?
Levi Mitchell
Yes, that's fine. This is related to monitoring the airwaves of the USAF and chilling out. We hear when things go live, with about a .25-.4 second delay vs using my SDR on my computer. We watch the watchman, you can say. We don't care directly about the Norks, we just listen in. Silent observers of messages that only a few may truly understand. We just do as we have been doing for quite some time. Hell, we even educate some on radio theory and practice.
This is just a radio thread. We listen to the world as it happens. Why? Because it's /comfy/.
