Why did Alice in Wonderland explode in Japan? There's gotta be an uncountable number of manga, anime, games, and fanart out there that reference, retell, or take inspiration from Through the Looking Glass.
Sure, it's big in the West but that makes sense - it was made here.
Is it simply because Alice is a qt loli who goes on a magical adventure?
>The relationship between the Liddells and Dodgson suffered a sudden break in June 1863. There was no record of why the rift occurred, since the Liddells never openly spoke of it, and the single page in Dodgson's diary recording 27–29 June 1863 (which seems to cover the period in which it began) was missing;[citation needed] it has been speculated by biographers such as Morton N. Cohen that Dodgson may have wanted to marry the 11-year-old Alice Liddell, and that this was the cause of the unexplained break with the family in June 1863.[9] It was long suspected that her mother became uncomfortable with the idea of a grown man befriending her 11-year-old daughter.[citation needed]
>In 1996, Karoline Leach found what became known as the "Cut pages in diary" document[10]—a note allegedly written by Charles Dodgson's niece, Violet Dodgson, summarising the missing page from 27–29 June 1863, apparently written before she (or her sister Menella) removed the page. The note reads:
>> "L.C. learns from Mrs. Liddell that he is supposed to be using the children as a means of paying court to the governess—he is also supposed soon to be courting Ina"[citation needed][page needed]
>This might imply that the break between Dodgson and the Liddell family was caused by concern over alleged gossip linking Dodgson to the family governess and to "Ina" (Alice's older sister, Lorina).[citation needed] In her biography The Mystery of Lewis Carroll, Jenny Woolf suggests that the problem was caused by Lorina becoming too attached to Dodgson and not the other way around.[citation needed] Woolf then uses this theory to explain why "Menella [would] remove the page itself, yet keep a note of what was on it." The note, she submits, is a "censored version" of what really happened, intended to prevent Lorina from being offended or humiliated at having her feelings for Dodgson made public.[11][page needed]
Jose Brown
>Alice and Lewis Carroll become close >Sister develops feelings for LC >Goes near-Yandere >Families must separate to keep everyone safe Would watch a dramatization of
Brandon Butler
She is super cute. I grew up in Japan and Alice in Wonderland was always my favorite American cartoon.
Jackson Gray
I assume the Disney adaption was dubbed over there? How is it?
Gavin Ramirez
>Mcgee's Alice version >Alice is secretly Lorina who accidentally killed her family in a crazed fit and took on her sister's name and appearance. The red queen is the governess Carroll was trying to court.
Aiden Sanchez
I believe there are two official dubs. I have only seen one of them, which is the newer one. They do a good job with it, but I would imagine that for people who watched the English version first it is not as good. I saw the English one at my grandparent's house in America a year or so after I originally saw it so I still enjoy both of them.
I really do want to see the old Japanese dub though. I have seen clips of it around and in them Alice sounds way cuter than she does in the newer one.
Kevin Miller
...
Eli Martin
I didn't even know that there was an alice anime. She is really cute
Charles Perry
Actually there are three versions. I just looked it up. The clips I thought were the old version were a different version. The new and old ones have the same voice actress.
I meant to quote you instead of my older post. I apologize.
Carter Ramirez
>That voice 2cute4me
Alexander Green
That actually sounds even more entertaining that Through the Looking Glass itself.
Lewis Carroll harem adaption when?
Leo Sanchez
There is no anime...
Carson Long
>Alice in Wonderland is one of my favorite movies >Weaboos on Sup Forums have to ruin it with their loli garbage Fuck you
Connor Murphy
There is an old anime about her.
Elijah Jones
We talking cartoon or tim burton? Because the "movie" was fucking edgy dogshit that lost the source material down the deepest fucking rabbit hole that ever existed
Kevin Anderson
Holy shit, when was this? Is it good?
James Lee
Literally an early isekai. Was there anything older than Alice in Wonderland?
Cooper White
I have never seen it. It was in the 1980s. It is a 52 episode series.
Jayden Bailey
I just want a cute, extremely faithful adaptation with one key difference: loli pantsu and fanservice
Juan Ward
Give her guns
Make her fight ghosts/aliens/giant monsters
Shonen
Force Araki to draw a manga adaptation and have them pull a Gainax ending to fuck over Araki
In itself, the books are pretty good with different layers of complexity so adults and kids can like it alike, specially the second one. Adults even more sometimes at seeing what was behind the story. Add to that one of the cutest lolis ever made in fiction and you have the perfect bait for male adults.
Carter Carter
Are you saying it's a bad thing?
Luke Cooper
But I just want my pantsu and lewd camera angles on top of the original story.
Mason Barnes
More isekai needs to be about a cute loli having a cute adventure.
Jose Richardson
Is "The Secret Garden" older?
Luis Jones
she's a cute blond loli.
Aiden Anderson
No, just saying why it's popular
Also, Disney is pretty much god over there so that helped too
Kevin Diaz
Nothing to do with an isekai actually. Even the world is completely different to your usual isekai. The only similar thing is a human being in a different world, and she only was there like a few hours at most, in both books.
Zachary Lee
Every other sentence with the [citation needed] tag has a source in the sentence so I don't know man. If you want a courtroom you're in the wrong place.
Blake Wilson
>she goes into another world By definition it's isekai.
Caleb Bell
She's actually just dreaming of going to another world.
Daniel Scott
Isn't it just because recently there was a novel published with some really nice illustrations and that the most Japanese haven't read/watched it so it's new to them?
Parker White
Or is she
Asher Turner
>isekai with blonde loli
Gee, I wonder.
LC actually seems smarter than most LN writers because he used a loli instead of some shitty generic MC.
Owen Morgan
Beats me I'm not complaining though.
Brandon Bell
No, there has always been a number of various manga (especially shoujo) and vn, among other things, that took Alice as its inspiration, and it's been like that for years.
>LC actually seems smarter than most LN writers because he used a loli instead of some shitty generic MC. He knew that, at some point, everyone would want to be the little girl
Carson Williams
That classic Disney animation.
Mason Lewis
She was rotoscoped?
William Cox
I don't think so, not sure. She was used as a model for Alice though.
Colton Gutierrez
guy took pictures of her naked
and it was perfectly ok in Victorian England
Colton Jenkins
It's a story about a middle-aged drug addict trying to get into the pants of an underage girl.
If you know what the average otaku looks like, you can probably connect the dots.
Isaiah Mitchell
Only reason I like Alice is because I have a size fetish and enjoy her thicc legs
Luis Cox
Actually it's about mathematical allegories, but sure mate.
Jayden Rogers
That might be the cause of the story being written, but it's not what it's about
Nolan Diaz
Some isekai stories end with 'It was a dream' endings.
If I recall correctly the slime reincarnation thing is one.
Landon Cruz
That's only like 1/10 of the deal. It is that plus much other things, see what it is so great about all this?
Gavin Gutierrez
camera lens, he was an early photographer as well
Dominic Garcia
>isekai >blonde loli >pseudo-meido outfit >lecherous old drug guy
Lewis Caroll was a true visionary ahead of his time.
Jordan Adams
And it is still a loli masterpiece even after all this. Truly a genius ahead of his time and most like likely ahead of our time as well.
John Moore
One of us! One of us!
Brayden Gonzalez
>Give her guns That already exists.
Samuel Evans
...
Mason Barnes
Is there anything Alice name hasn't been use on?
Jonathan Garcia
I wish the porn one wasn't so bittersweet at the end of the story.
Mason Nguyen
He would be coming here.
Owen Collins
Alice is cute loli Japan loves cute lolis ???? so yes. Yes is your answer
just because the thread in cripple is slow doesn't mean you bring it here, fuck you
Daniel Ramirez
You will have to be more specific user. There is a lot of porn based around Alice, and most of it is so shit that the creator would vomit with seeing only hags in them.
Eli Howard
You take a good look at the pic you posted and tell me that's not a powerful bundle of fetishes.
>Is it simply because Alice is a qt loli Yes. Cute clothes, cute face, cute antics.
Ayden Edwards
>LC actually seems smarter than most LN writers because he used a loli instead of some shitty generic MC. He also did a clever job with his work and wrote it better than any of them could ever hope.
David Mitchell
>NTRing onii-chan.
That's not nice.
Jordan Green
>loli wins in metaphysical way
please dont talk as if you know what you speak of knave
Brayden Price
LC wouldve been the best kind of tripfag wonder if he wouldve drawn pictures instead of taking lewd photos of lolis if he knew of the industry
Thomas Walker
What happened to that one author whose illustrations were shilled shamelessly on here and anons bought all the copies of the book? Has he done anything else lately?
Isaiah King
He would have done both if possible but don't comment about his real life here and instead just talk about loli. Also, he wasn't a drawfag, there was another guy in charge of the drawings.
Samuel Peterson
he was truly one of us
Easton Bennett
>I-I'm not a lolicon officer, I swear! kek
Adrian Jenkins
She made a The Wizard of Oz illustrated book that was mostly ignored over here because it was not Alice.
Jonathan Wood
Pics? Dorothy isn't bad but she's definitely not as cute as Alice Also does she have a Twitter or something I can follow?
Blake Campbell
this is how you create a waifu Sup Forums, this is what miyazaki is talking about. In order to be good you have to be grounded in reality. Carroll left his loli-alice-lust as a memento for the future generations and history remembers him fondly for it, can you do the same?
Isaac Jackson
I wonder what little Liddell thought of LC. >this man is nice but kind of creepy >I guess he can appreciate how cute I am, though!
Nathan Rivera
>implying she didnt call him nii-chan >implying she didnt lust after his dick
Brandon Baker
Ironically in this case, his waifu was not his creation but rather the real little girl. His creation served as a love letter.
Ryder Edwards
She probably didn't think badly of him.
Luke Sullivan
>implying he didnt ditch 3dpd for his ideal 2d alice
Juan Adams
That's adorable
Nathaniel Myers
The name of the artist is Kriss Sison. I don't know if he has done more or if he has twitter.
