If you fight, you feed into a system designed to MAKE you fight, and you compel others to fight against in an endless cycle of violence and division, but if you dont fight you risk the other party continuing to abuse you, and then they eventually win and secure ideological hegemony. It's a prisoners dilemma.
If you stop fighting and the other person stops fighting then you can have peace and maybe sort things out.
If you stop fighting the other party may keep fighting and crush you.
If they stop fighting there may be people aligned with you who will be motivated to crush the other party.
Ultimately neither side can rely on the other not to try and take control.

If we had a more libertarian society the communists could just check out and join epicurean style communes if we got rid of land taxes and other obstacles.
