If the current crop of isekai anime is really as bad as claimed, surely Sup Forums could come up with a superior alternative?

Well, Sup Forums? Surely you're not just just talk? How will you make isekai great again?

Isekai was never good.

We don't get exactly bad anime anymore, what we get is generic and unremarkable ones. Which is exactly the stuff we would write.

pretty much this

usually the premise of Isekai series are interesting but the writing is what you expect from webnovels.

What I'm more interested in is what type of world that Sup Forums would want to see in an Isekai since Sup Forums keeps talking about world-building

Instead of sending a NEET loser to a fantasy world, send an attractive, red-haired twintailed tsundere schoolgirl to a sci-fi world.

Make a Leon the Professional type thing where she's taken under the wing of a grizzled older gunman and taught the ropes while being a bitchy, spoiled brat. Slowly grow her reverse-harem of attractive adult action heroes as she and her partner take the criminal underworld of a futuristic techno-city by storm. Also a token lesbian with a himecut who forcefully fugs her in the uncensored OVA packaged with the BD release.

I just dislike fantasy in general and it sucks that the genre is more or less interchangeable with isekai. Anime where the MC/heroine is dropped in the middle of the Sengoku era tend to be okay though, we need more of those. Or just time travel, period.

1. no video game/rpg shit
2. no love triangles or harem shit
3. characters need to change their fucking clothes every once in a while ffs

bah Sengoku era is even more overrated then the Middle ages

What about Sangokushi?

>1. no video game/rpg shit
that can be used well (it's just that authors just use it to make the MC OP).
>2. no love triangles or harem shit
agreed
>3. characters need to change their fucking clothes every once in a while ffs
that's just autism

ACtually start to animate actual isekai, instead of parodies and comedies.

well then
3a. less autistic characters

>If the current crop of isekai anime is really as bad as claimed, surely Sup Forums could come up with a superior alternative?
That's like saying we could do better than that age of battle harems in high school

>make the MC a lesbian
>have MC go for a harem end
easy peasy

>ACtually start to animate actual isekai, instead of parodies and comedies.
Gotchu senpai.
One serving of Arifureta coming your way.
Or would you rather some Dungeon Seeker?

That's a horrible idea

comedies and parodies are the only ones that are worth reading

Katahane no Riku anime WHEN?

Of the little I've experienced the worst parts are that the MC is some generic Gary Stu
The sucked into video games backstory is really shit and lazy
And in the case of Konosuba it was just generally not funny
Whats the point in a parody if everything is a parody? What then are you parodying?

What if they make this
>Kuroinu setting discover the isekai shit, 2 years later after the original ending
>they invade a "real" world where that world know that game
>they start doing pretty much what they know except that they have to retreat because they were overwhelmed, but they capture one of them and he say that what they saw was their weak army, so they decide to throw a lot of soldiers to invade the Kuroinu world
>the mc team are pretty much "adults", and consist of arape fag who want to enter in the Kuroinu world just to fuck, the vanilla fag who is more or less the same except that he could be a whiteknight faggot, a cyinical guy who want to kill all the Kuroinu world because he doesn't want them to be alive knowing what happened in the game, and an edgy girl whose sister and mother were raped and killed and she want revenge and more or less the same
>the story is pretty much Gate but doned right, with belieable war, magic and technology, how the rapefag and vanilla fag realizes how much of an idiot they were, how the cynical saw that outside of the world of Kuroinu isn't that bad and decide that they must eradicate as many monsters and corruption the mercenaries left, and how the edgy girl try to help as much people there as she can and decide to rescue and find a way to cure already mindfucked girl with her world's technology
AUTISM FOR THE WIN :>)

Japanese Isekai:
-MC is beta
-setting is barebones
-no one is a threat to the MC
-everyone is awestruck on whatever the MC does
-has no ambition
-has a harem

Chinese Isekai
-MC is a homicidal murderhobo
-it takes entire chapters to tell whatever the setting is
-MC can fight people 5 levels higher than him but is constantly being fucked with by people 6 or so levels higher
-everyone calls him trash even when they are impressed and can get their ass kicked by him
-wants to become god
-has a harem

so I say try to fuse these settings together so their extremes cancel each other out (and remove their harems).

Chinese isekai sounds perfectly fine to me as is tbqh.

Drop the single person ends up in the fantasy world aspect, and take a larger group of people, and don't toss them into a typical fantasy world, throw them into some sort of skyworld with floating landmasses. Also screw the high schooler thing, take a train, a ferry, or airplane of ordinary people of varying ages.

>otaku mc gets run over by a truck and gets reincarnated
>he arrives in an alien world with technology far surpassing humans
>he notices his eye sight is really wide and when he takes a look he has fused with the truck
>but wait, suddenly there's voices
>the driver's consciousness is also in there with him
>it's a busty oujo-sama, her butler and twin lolis
>now begins truck-kun's journey to get himself upgraded and become a big shot in this world

they already did the mass transportation thing loads of time (drifting classrooms, Kumo desu ga, Afrieta, and a assload of bullied MC revenge plots).

Though a sky setting would be good.

I'd watch that. An Isekai with a female MC doesn't sound bad at all as long as she don't become a Mary Sue, even if she's not a lesbian.

Hi there

>what is every genderbender isekai

Have a character in a fantasy world be transported into a sci-fi space opera

he can use his original world's magic giving him some edge but have him be disadvantaged by the not knowing shit about technology and the fact that the "good vs. evil" romanticism, though worked fine in his high fantasy world doesn't work at all in a space opera world that runs on cold logic or does it?

>Afrieta
Have no idea what that is. The others are school student things though.

>No rpg elements
>MC that is not dumber or more beta than most viewers, and doesnt solve problems with asspulls
Done

>Kumo desu ga
>and a assload of bullied MC revenge plots
Kumo is a bullied MC revenge plot.
Kumo has it out for Yugo and Wakaba Hiiro doled out a ton of ironic karmic reincarnations to people who annoyed her.

So Re:Zero?

no dumb video game shit
or how about not doing isekai at all
just do a proper fantasy anime

if Subaru wasnt a retard, maybe

By writing a regular Fantasy series and not an isekai where some loser goes to a world that runs on video game logic.

Would there really be a difference?

Instead of NEET A from the Earth being weak/op it will be Adventurer A being weak/op. Events will play out exactly the same.

Sounds like you just hate it because it will never happen to you.

By going back to the roots of the genre.

>characters need to change their fucking clothes every once in a while ffs

Your comment reminds me of the Kingkiller books. The dude felt like a rich man when he could finally afford a second shirt.

>Sounds like you just hate it because it will never happen to you.
This is why Sup Forums hates isekai, and violent tsunderes who are thirsty for MC.

you posted the wrong pic

>not A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court
You're both wrong.

80% of Sup Forums is retarded

It would probably be chuuni-tier edge and everyone gets raped like Akame ga kill, goblin slayer, or tate yuusha LNs. Then they'd say their brand of shit is somehow better.

Mix in a little of this while you're at it and you've got the roots of Isekai.

>Sounds like you just hate it because it will never happen to you.
you must hate a lot of things then

The reason you'd write a series with Isekai is usually for "fish out of water" reasons

but for the webnovels it for "Medias Res" reasons where the MC already has some sort of skill or knowledge that can give him some edge in the underdeveloped world (like a Brit in the 19th century).

Problem is this edge makes them completely OP taking the fun out of the fantasy since there's no feeling of MC overcoming any adversity or trial. If it was more balanced like Zipang, Princess of Mars, and Warlock in Magus world it would be much better and justified.

But I'm not the one retarded enough to get jealous of fantasy

Re:Zero >> 100 power gaps >>>> Anything Sup Forums could come up with

...

>Re:Zero
>better than Ghost Slide

>By writing a regular Fantasy series

So turn still a bit fresh idea into a something everyone and their mom has done to death since a century ago?

Reverse isekai

>gruff, badass warrior won't stop killing monsters and shit
>legendary creatures thought to be invincible are even slain by him
>it's gotten to the point where even the gods are getting pissed off
>"Fuck it. We can't kill him, so let's just throw him in some other plane of existence."
>"lol, k."
>badass warrior is lured into some trap and flung into an interdimensional portal
>wakes up in a strange land with large glass monoliths and carriages without horses
>thinks he's been thrust into another adventure
>it's really just our reality in all its mundane glory
>ends up meeting some girl
>for some unknown reason, he thinks the girl has some untapped potential and, much to her chagrin, makes her his apprentice
>girl thinks he's fucking insane, due to him interpreting everything in our world as 'black magic' or the work of dark gods
>however, he's actually kind of sweet in a weird way so she sticks around with him to make sure he doesn't end up in prison or killed by cops

Hataraku already exists

Anons, pls.

Look at some of the old novels in this thread. The idea of a character being thrust into a foreign/alien world and gaining special abilities or haveing some big advantage is nothing new or fresh either.

>badass warrior is lured into some trap and flung into an interdimensional portal

>mass transportation thing
It honestly shouldn't even count as Mass Trans if all except one character disappears 2 chapters in and it becomes just another Mary Sue power wank.

I really liked how the world was presented in Shirayukihime. You got this medieval setting that there was no need to explain because what you got was what you saw. When something new was to be introduced, it was explained in a way that made sense for the characters involved.

Yeah, but it still has fantasy elements. There shouldn't be any fantasy elements at all. No magic, no demon lords, no great evil. Just some fantasy character completely out of his element.

At one point I was going to turn the green text into the intro, but I decided to stick with my initial idea.

>It honestly shouldn't even count as Mass Trans if all except one male disappears 2 chapters in and it becomes just another Mary Sue power wank with his harem.
FTFY

Isekai are different because the mc will be a foreigner to the world.

You're confused OP. Most of us don't want "better" isekai.

We want "less" isekai.

>Group transportation of 10~20 people
>No obvious MC so anyone could die
>a new person is transferred over everytime someone dies

Isekai where loser NEET is transported into fantasy world.
NEET receives no extra advantage and all his RPG and gaming knowledge is useless.
NEET does not go for adventures instead he slowly learns to be a proper member of the fantasy world society, getting a job, socializing and of course, learning how to maintain romantic relationships for the sake of procreation.

Sponsored by the Japanese Government.

>character gets captured by the enemy
>group in the middle of planning a rescue mission
>suddenly a new person gets transferred in

Brave story novel did it well.

>Guy from fantasy world gets replaced with someone of our world
>10 volumes of shenanigans as both adapt to their respective new worlds
>Both of the worlds get connected and of course war gets declared, each MC gets appointed as supreme whatever due to their knowledge of the enemy
>2 volume war
>White peace, open borders, MCs become BFF
>40 volumes of romcom between the MCs and their respective harems
>yaoi end
>LNOTD, t. anonymous Sup Forums poster

Which makes it better than standard fantasy because we have a reason for characters stating the obvious.

Instead of neets, send over college students or competent managers who end up becoming lolis in a magical world.

Except isekai writers are so shit that instead of taking advantage of their obvious excuse to infodump more often than not the hikki-NEET MC will try to pretend to be a native only to have random people infodumping all over his face anyways.

That's because it was an actual novel written by an experianced and established author and went through the standard channels and critique before being published in a final novel form. Not a web novel that got circle jerked until it got a publisher's attention or a quick LN shoveled out to cash in on and cater to a niche demographic.

>what is every genderbender isekai
You say that like it's common. I can't even think of one off the top of my head.

so why doesnt anyone like 91 days?

>Making love in the afternoon with Cecilia
>Up in my bedroom
>I got up to wash my face
>When I come back to bed someone's taken my place

>91 days
Fujoshit.

This guy gets it.

im on episode 5 im not sure

I swear I read something similar to this. He swaps places with some prince right before some ritual to obtain some special sword and has to travel around to different regions taking their god swords or something. He trades away a bunch of his school shit early on for money and information as welliirc. Meanwhile the prince is living the MCs original life in our world.

because its easier to shitpost and complain rather than take any action

Kekkon no yubiwa?
The one where he has to marry girls to get their magic wedding rings ?

>Famous researcher's pet parrot dies and gets transferred to another world as a human
>as he gradually gets used to being a human and learns their language, he recalls phrases he heard from the researcher and uses them to develop weapons to win his fights
>he rejects girls that fall for him because he still wants to fuck parrots

Nope . Got it wrong sorry.
Did not read .
>Meanwhile the prince is living the MCs original life in our world.

>m-muh literary legitimacy
bugger off

Stating the obvious makes sense only if there are a lot of new people and there is a system to inform them, like a sort of hub for new players. Otherwise it's even worse because "natives" should ask why they have to explain those things, something that's almost never explored upon.

The tutorial for noobs is a reason, but it's an awful reason because 99% of the times the world doesn't need an explanation, it's a generic rpg world and we know this. You can say that the character doesn't know that it's a rpg system, but unless you make this interesting, you are stating the obvious in a info dump, which is boring.

>>he rejects girls that fall for him because he still wants to fuck parrots
Are there demi-human parrot girls in that world?

The same MC was isekai'd into the bodies of potentially hundreds of people in the same world simultaneously. From the perspective of the inhabitants, it is a sudden body-snatcher plague, leading to witch-hunts to find and eliminate the affected before their affliction spreads further.

As a result, all of the instances of the MCs "go to ground" so to speak, and have to act completely in type. They can only let on very subtle hints to try and find others, except that as the people hunting them become more experienced they become more familiar with these tells.

The MC is, for fairly obvious reasons, the one individual who can see and avert a horrible disaster forming throughout the land, and he must use acausal trade to do it.

Story would literally improve linearly as the MC is made more and more quirky.

Twelve Kingdoms is so underrated

Can I get an anime adaptation of this?

>Guy from Future!Earth lands on a dieselpunk planet
>There's an evil empire using mind control on its citizens
>MC is naturally immune to mind control and is all-around OP with his genetic enhancements
>With the help of the local resistance, destroys the mind control network and topples the evil empire
>Another Earth guy appears, bitchslaps the MC and explains that he just turned the country into Syria with his misplaced heroics and fucked everything up

You mean overrated?

I think you're talking about Arata Kangatari

Thats it. If I remember right there were in some money land thing when I dropped it.

No, underrated. See Twelve Kingdoms has some of the best character development in fiction, let alone anime.

literally anything else

the problem is that it's completely void of creativity, just do something else

Even haremshit at its base is better than
>nerd
>transported into new world
>gets at least one love interest
>usually somehow the best
>gameplay systems in reality
>dragonq uest

>again
That's a good one OP

His quest is to find the parrot of his dreams
Instead of a stormy evil looking final boss castle it's a tropical island where he meets the bird of his dreams
His harem tries to kill the parrot

>A group of neets are transported into a position of power, like emperor/general/whatever
>At first, the people close to that position believes it to be a divine omen
>They are just incompetent fucks
>But the entire kingdom/whatever loves them
>Comedy/Fantasy/Harem

All the males from fantasy world are trasnported to our world, while all the girls from our world are sent to the fantasy world.

Now we can get the fujo bucks and the yuri friends.

MC is someone with an actually useful skill like a doctor or an engineer.

wait
>make it great again
it was never good, the fuck?

I kinda like that
They are OP but autistic enough that it doesn't really matter and they screw everything up

>Yumekui Merry
?????
