waiting for BD release is suffering.

5cm per second

Really good animation, good direction good backgrounds
Below average story, he can't write for shit.

neither can you

>You have to be a chef to know what food tastes good
How one be this retarded?

Some of the animation, like when the girls were doing the ritual dance thing, felt like it was (good) CG. Did they draw over the models for that or do the models look like that?

How do you now know that you're not addressing a good writer? Maybe that user is Oliver Stone or Martin Scorcese.

Really makes you think.

has anyone spotted the okiura/hamasu scenes yet?

This pretty much.

I liked it, but one thing that bothered me is that neither of them ever checked the date when they switched. I know it's because a big portion of the movie would never occur if they did, but they should've found a better way around that.

Animation, OST and the premise is what saved this movie.

>bro

Fuck off.

>bro
did you just assume my gender?

No one is perfect

are you assuming you are anything other than a male in your twenties?
how disgusting

I'm not your bro, buddy.

anyone else watching the livestream?

Watched it yesterday. It was pretty good.

Not a lot of movies make me cry.

Best anime of all time.
Nothing is gonna top this one for a long time.
What a time

Re-posting for those that may have missed it in the last thread.

I fucking could have watched this at AX

Why didn't I read that schedule more seriously? Did I fuck up guys?

Yes you did. I liked it.

Mitsuha lewds when?

what day and time was it? I want to know what I was doing when I could have been watching the top meme shit

Schedule says 1 pm on Sunday July 3rd.

animation was great but the story was meh. something about using loss of memories to force drama just annoys me.

just watched it

it's so good I want to watch it again but I will wait for the blu-rays, those water marks were suffering, plus it totally ruins everything that makoto shinkai is great for

then i was probably wandering around the exhibition hall looking for something to buy and failing. Why did I have to be so un-anime from May to August? Is there any expectation on when the BDs will come out? How bearable are the cam vids if there are any?

plot in here:

I watched it in a theater. Pretty nice there

Not your fucking blog newfag.

Kill yourself.

look around nyaa and it's not a cam vid it's a leaked 480p copy for sample screening or something

There's a single lewd in the body swap thread in /d/.

That's how I found this movie in the first place.

Thanks for the info. Might be a reviewer copy. My dad's client is a critic and gives us in-theater movie rips intended for reviewers all the time. But they're usually watermarked to hell and back. Does that sound right?

They're living their other lives like it's a dream. Details are remembered hazily. It kinds of explain itself.

>are you assuming you are anything other than a male in your twenties?
how rude
I got 30 this year.

I don't like how the end sort of petered out. Is showing me Taki and Mitsuha finally getting the romance they deserve too much? The meeting at the stairs was insufferably inadequate.

Having said that, this movie made me realise the sort of girl I really like - pure, genki, slightly insecure, down-
-to-earth and sweet. Think Akiho and MC of Shinbunbu no Konatsu-san.

I was so sure we were getting a 5cps in the end, I almost cried. I thought the ending was more or less perfect.

As expected from the master

It wasn't satisfactory for me considering the buildup. I would have liked to know their final fate.

Please, do elaborate. What exactly is the criteria for "good story" in your artless, uneducated, little chimp brain?

I think it's a bit unoriginal, all of the plot elements have been done to death before. I don't really mind though, because it's more about how the story is told than what is told. The movie does this more or less perfectly.

Also, pic related.
>artless, uneducated, little chimp brain
>you have to be 18 or older to post here.

Yeah, they gave just enough IMO.
I think you're asking for too much, the movie is basically over at that point.

Its par for the course as Shinkai ends go, bar the happy - abrupt, non-committal and unsatisfactory. The viewer didn't sit through 100 minutes of hijinks and shenanigans across time to get Taki and Mitsuha ask each other's name at the staircase and end there. Even a montage in the credits like TLS would have wrapped it up better.

This movie reminds me of an oneshot manga I read years ago. With a girl who had trouble with speacking and a deaf guy. They somehow could communicate with eachothers through telepathy or some shit. It turned out they were not in the same time as the girl was 1 hour ahead of the guy.

I, too, want a gf like Mitsuha.

You probably cried to 5 cm per minute and cloud porn too.

Does it have a Korean ending like 5 CM per second?

No, they meet again after 5 years and cry of happiness even if they have no memory of each other

the moment they walked past each other on the stairs I screamed internally
thank god it was just Shinkai memeing us

I was going to burst a vein when they did that. Thought it was going right before he turned around.

Not sure why Shinkai keeps on structuring his endings so similarly. It gets formulaic.

She is utter perfection, though I wouldn't want to deal with >muh tradition grandma.

Completely unrelated but i cant be the only one who was vividly reminded of the landfall of the ulysses 1994xf04 from Ace combat during the meteorite scene? that particular scene of mitsuha as the initial fragments hit and the scene where it finally lands were absolutely spectacular. Id love to see a shinkai movie directed with this sort of scope that was an action/mecha movie. that would be super.

Here you go.

Where did you get this from ?

>bros can only be male

You really had to ruin your post with ad hom, huh?

What's a "Korean" ending?

Yes, that's right.

>it's a memekoto shinkai directs a pretty movie with a hackneyed story with little to no substance episode
Why do we care about this?

I'm waiting for the real movie of the year (pic related) to come out

Body swapping, time travel, amnesia
>What exactly is the criteria for "good story" in your artless, uneducated, little chimp brain?
Please do fuck off if you're looking for a flame war.

*Anything that isn't body swapping, time travel, amnesia.
My bad.

>I think it's a bit unoriginal, all of the plot elements have been done to death before.
In this day and age, originality is a myth.
Pretty much every successful work on any entertainment medium is somewhat inspired or homages something that came prior to it.
The only truly original content creators are indie productions that you'll never know about exactly because they are too much of a niche segment to make their way to mainstream market.
Though you can be original not only with execution, as you mentioned, but also setting and climax-wise. Hosoda's Ookami Kodomo for example, uses the cliche "human meets pagan creature" but twists it into a coming of age tale about a single mother raising her children.
Shinkai's open endings on his romantic stories are also a deviant style that I've come to enjoy.

>Really makes you think.
You need to go.

>its a meme&buzzwords filled post
why did you bother making this?

>everything is unoriginal
But this is uninterestingly unoriginal.
Shinkai's a hack, he only knows how to write one story and it's not a good one.

You are entitled to your opinion.
And I have to disagree with it.

Yamakan said it was poorly received in Japan. Is it true?

because it's the truth.

I don't know, but if I suddenly found out that I was talking to someone three years in the future then I would've recorded that shit first thing.

I mean the guy has a diary for fucks sake. Shinkai was just hoping no one would mind if he ignored the issue.

Shinkai is the guy because unlike Miyazaki he was able to make actual anime that caters to both otaku and normalfaggots, actually Shinkai work is the last evolutionary stage of actual Anime.

The ending was predictable as hell. I don't understand how people could even think they were getting a 5cm/s ending.

Not with that name, and the way the movie unfolded. It was literally the perfect place to namedrop the title.

5 cm/sec's story of separation felt more believable because of time setting. Kimi no na wa is set in 2013/2016 ffs. how hard could it be for both of em?

>smartphones 3 years apart
surely they wouldve at least noticed the UI differences?

>what is google maps?

But hey, this isn't a softcore sci-fi film and it doesn't pretend to be one. It's paranormal, really.

Love finds a way, amirite?

personally, I loved the film. Can't believe I laughed in a Shinkai film

I can believe it, remember that they're living each others' lives in a dream, it would be hard to remember the minor details like the current year as you don't really notice/remember that kind of stuff after you wake up from a dream.

Great movie though, one of the best in recent years. I only wish they took ten minutes or so to develop the romance between taki and mitsuha more. It seemed like they just suddenly fell in love without a reason.
Or maybe them falling in love so suddenly is meant to reflect dreams in real life. Usually we're hit with a deep sense of loss and longing when we wake up from a dream that we had a deep emotional connection with.

>you don't really notice/remember that kind of stuff after you wake up from a dream
Nolan, pls.
I already watched your movie.

>he can't write for shit
Did you even read the credit list for this movie?

>we're hit with a deep sense of loss and longing when we wake up from a dream that we had a deep emotional connection with
Literally Beyond the Clouds.
Interesting to see he's mixing a bit of his previous works on this.

Best boy

Finally it found a way.

Did Shinkai BTFO Kyoani?

No, because KyoAni aren't hackneyed writers.

You're not wrong but really not going to convince anyone considering this is THE board with 91 days, FT, 7DS and TG generals.

is this the 480p leak?

It is the small production note book they were selling at the theater.

THAT FUCKING ENDING

IT'S 3AM AND I'VE BEEN SMILING AND SLIGHTLY CRYING LIKE A RETARD FOR THE PAST HOUR OR SO, WATCHING SOME 480p SCREENER AND EATING SHITTY MCDONALDS AND DRINKING INSTANT COFFEE BUT GOD DAMN IT I HAVEN'T FELT THIS ALIVE IN YEARS

i love this movie, maybe as much as i love redline or Sakasama no Patema.

not sure yet, but im digging it

>I can believe it, remember that they're living each others' lives in a dream, it would be hard to remember the minor details like the current year as you don't really notice/remember that kind of stuff after you wake up from a dream
But what about during the dream?
>Teacher you wrote the wrong date on the blackboard
>Nonsense Mitsuha it's clearly 2013
>But it's not
>Yes it is
>Wtf
>Diary entry: Yo Mitsuha what the fuck is up with the date
Also I can't believe it took them so long to notice the bodyswapping. They should've realized SOMETHING was wrong sooner when they were missing entire days of their lives.

>Also I can't believe it took them so long to notice the bodyswapping. They should've realized SOMETHING was wrong sooner when they were missing entire days of their lives
Clearly they get shitfaced way too often and are used to this whole memory loss thing.

holy fuck that's a terrible diagram

BDs when?

The buildup to the ending was great - the music worked well with the situation as well. If you were emotionally invested in this film then the last 20-30 minutes really pulls at the heart strings.

After the first or second time they probably figured out that these were more than dreams, but it probably took a bit for them to realize that they were actually swapping between each other. Just because one of them hops into another person's body for a day doesn't necessarily mean that same person is now in their body running around acting silly, but this is how it turned out.

They said it earned $12.5M in three days

>tfw you will never get to see cake Mitsuha's romance with Taki, as they make up for lost time

That's the sequel you silly I wish

It's fucking magic they don't have to explain shit. You niggers over analyze everything.

Well that's expected since Redline has the same problems this movie does, all style no substance

I'm from japan.
and I watched this movie with family and everyone cried.

When can we expect this to be up on nyaa

at 1080p, I should add
