Should I join the union?

Hi Sup Forums,

My fellow grad students want to start a union.
Should I join?
The parent union is the USW.
Pic related.

Yes user.

1.45% of my yearly stipend is the fee. Is this a bargain?

unions are for commies.

What about these points?
>To provide a stable funding system for graduate student workers so they can concentrate on their teaching, research, writing, and lead healthy, balanced lives.
>To make the university a space free of sexual harassment and gender discrimination with a program for reporting without fear of retaliation.
>For graduate students to get proper safety training and know that they can refuse to do work that endangers their health.
>To establish a culture of accountability and transparency that maintains consistent, fair decision making and freer access to information.
>For graduate student workers to have a voice and make sure that it’s heard.

The one and only point of unions is to employ socialist fat cats and give their political opinions clout. The members are just ballast

Good goy, trust your boss to give you the best wage

He works in a government university. He's already a commie.

yes you should, assuming that those in charge are doing their jobs a union will
>fight for your rights
>allow for mediation to occur in which you are a fair party.
>fight for your right to a livable wage

>implying that communists dont want to dismantle unions to push their radical agendas.

The mayor of our city supports this union. More trustworthy, or less?

>Student
>Workers

Fucking commies and their retarded lingo. There is no "worker class" in the US.

Also, go fuck yourself OP,
>To provide a stable funding system for graduate student workers so they can concentrate on their teaching, research, writing, and lead healthy, balanced lives.

In other words, stealing shit from me so you can have more time for tennis.

I do, but I'm only here for at most 5 years. I'm wondering if I'll really see benefits. It seems this is being pushed for by the English and Sociology students the most; I don't know a single engineer grad student who has signed a card.
I figured other Sup Forumslacks have experience.

LOL i just copypastad the union selling points to get opinions.

>Rights
Stealing from others is not a right.

OP is a faggot "Graduate student" that does nothing of value. He did not say "Professional student" which would imply Med, Dental, Nursing, Law, or something else of value.

Bottom line -OP Is a loser with no useful skills that wants to milk those who do. If he had any competence he would've gotten into professional school.

You're a criminal OP, and you're just hoping this organization will steal for you by proxy - from men of true ability - to shield you from the fact that you're a useless parasite.

>It seems this is being pushed for by the English and Sociology students the most; I don't know a single engineer grad student who has signed a card.
Engineers have actual careers to look forward to. English and Sociology students have to invent new gibsme systems and organizations to provide work for themselves.

The "professional" students pay for their education, so they don't work for the university nor received a stipend, so they have nothing to bargain over.

I kek'd at engineers are useless parasites.

Unions are for Syndaclist retards most of the time. Sometimes they are good. But I would see if you have to pay dues or how corrupt it .

you know for a strike to work someone has to actually miss you

do you need those things?
Our union (I'm not a member but I pay them 120$ a year just by getting a pay check) claims to be the reason we get healthcare through the university.

pandering for transient votes

We get free healthcare already. It's provided by our school, which actually was part of the same health insurance company, but separated 20 years ago. It's admittedly a really good plan.

I'm trying to figure out if there's any benefits I'm not seeing. I think this union just wants to increase its coffer, and liberal-leaning students are easy prey.

But, i don't know if anyone else has had positive experiences. It doesn't seem worth 1.45% of my stipend though.

>I think this union just wants to increase its coffer, and liberal-leaning students are easy prey.
that's probably true.

We should organize against these parasitic, bourgeois students to protect our wealth of OxyContin prescriptions and 2nd mortgage houses.

>student union
kys you disgusting piece of shit
