First few episodes will sound weird. Don't know if it's because the VAs aren't warmed up to the characters. Could be that the viewer needs to get warmed up to the VAs. The latter happens to me a lot.
It's one of the better dubs though. It's fine after a few episodes in.
Also, the English VA for the MC once did a "Let's watch" with /r/anime.
