fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mohamed_Mediène#11_septembre_:_quand_Toufik_pr.C3.A9vient_les_Am.C3.A9ricains The DRS boss had close ties with his counterparts in the US intelligence service, he was already received at the Pentagon and at the headquarters of the CIA. A few days before the attacks of September 11, 2001, he goes on a confidential mission to the United States, with his American interlocutors he evokes an imminent attack of great magnitude against the United States on the faith of a secret memo sent on September 6 2001 by Smaïn Lamari, the number two of the DRS at the time. The same day a few hours after the attacks, only two civil aircraft were allowed to take off: the one carrying members of the Saudi royal family and relatives of bin Laden, and the one who brought General Toufik to Algiers.

Late response but here goes: The Kurd's sat quietly in both Iraq and Syria like good boys. No major push for independence anywhere but in Turkey. Then ISIS attacked and beat back the Iraqi and Syrian forces. With the crisis and a very weak central government, Kurd's seized the opportunity to declare independence. They then went to war against ISIS solely as an excuse to expand their territory, even though ISIS hasn't launched a major offensive against them in years. Kurd's from other regions like Turkey capitalized on this by abandoning their fight against the Turks and instead went to carve out their country out of Iraqi and Syrian land. This was all supported by western nations and the kikes. For obvious reasons this pissed off Iraq who declared war on them. Syria is also pissed but it is unlikely they can do anything at the moment due to heavy US involvement. As for the Kurdish infighting, I don't really have a good answer. They were always rather splintered with groups like Peshmerga having different values and beliefs than those who live in Iraq. At one point when Iraqi troops were advancing, one group retreated without warning leaving their positions unstable and wide open to the Iraqi advance. They were labeled as traitors and a lot of Kurd's ended support for them. I'm not sure if this is related, but it is an example of how divided the Kurd's are and why infighting may occur. Keep in mind that Kurd's are parasites and parasites can't feed of themselves.

Iraq is having it easy mode compared to Syria.
Iraq is fighting: ISIS, Kurds
Syria is fighting: ISIS, rebels, coalition, foreign mercenaries, Israel and Kurds
Holy shit it is a miracle Syria managed to survive this far even with Russia's help

I've been saying this for a while now. When ISIS invaded Iraq, it took them 2 weeks to capture a third of the country and push Iraqi troops all the way to Baghdad. And this was with coalition air support and ISIS was not getting foreign support. Syria held out for years against multiple enemies who were trained, armed, and funded by dozens of foreign nations despite crippling sanctions and terrible morale. Hell, western "military experts" were saying that Assad was about to collapse 'any day now' every other week up until Russia showed up.
Syrians are cut from a different cloth. I wouldn't be surprised if they become a regional power after being given the chance to recover from this war.
Blake Garcia
Russia and Iran and Hezbollah, and don't forget how much heat the ypg took off Assad - they more or less defeated isis. The Iranian military is gigantic and Hezbollah are currently 2 - 0 against Israel.
If the rebels had stayed united and isis hadn't expanded into Iraq then Assad wouldn't have had a prayer.
Charles Bailey
>If the rebels had stayed united and isis hadn't expanded into Iraq then Assad wouldn't have had a prayer.
The rebels civilian war stinks of mukhabarat meddling. It is very to turn ignorant savages against each other . With all the green buses that have gone to Idlib, sneaking in agents there would be a piece of cake.
ISIS expanding towards Iraq did more good than bad at the time. The amount of recruits, military equipment and money/oil they got from it was very helpful for their war.
Jaxon Jenkins
YPG was certainly helpful but they didn't actually help too much against ISIS. Keep in mind that ISIS was more or less ignoring the YPG since their failure to take Afrin. Even recently, during the past 2 months, ISIS only launched 2 counter offensives against the Kurd's despite all the territory the Kurd's took from them. On the other hand, ISiS launched 14+ counter offensives against the SAA in that time period, including 2 massive ones where they abandoned positions in Iraq in order to reinforce. Also, the rebels were never united to begin with. They are mostly jihadists and mercenaries fighting for foreign interests. They would often put their backers interests over fighting Assad. Like when thousands of rebels abandoned the battle for Aleppo (literally the most important battle in the war) to join Euphrates Shield. Or when Saudi Arabia's and Qatar's relations fell apart and the rebels they were funding began killing each other despite being pinned down by Syrian troops from all sides. Also, keep in mind that ISIS was originally part of the FSA.
Though I agree that ISIS strategies make no sense whatsoever. They were originally from Iraq so they figured they would get a lot of support if they came back and took over. But it still stands that they declare war on everyone, don't even finish off one enemy before attacking another, and make everyone hate them through terrorist attacks even against countries they are not fighting. They are kind of retarded strategy wise, but their tactics are amazingly good.
Zachary Powell
Guys, I might regret this since I am high right now and not thinking 'normal', but I want to make a custom shirt expressing support for Assad. Can someone post a good image to put on it? Thanks in advance.

So is ISIS literally controlled directly or indirectly by the CIA or *insert other anti-Iran agency here*?
They keep fighting the SAA instead of the Kurds while the Kurds are just taking territory and having it easy mode.
Tyler Turner
They are not controlled by anyone senpai. They never would have attacked Iraq and outright destroyed years of US influence as well as push Iraq closer to Iran if they were. However, the US deliberately tried to keep ISIS as strong as possible knowing they were mostly fighting Assad.

The assault on Kobane went far beyond any battle that ISIS has ever had with the SAA. They went all in with their elite units and stolen Iraqi tanks, and when they lost they lost their border with Turkey and with it their source of foreign recruits and customers for their oil. This was their first major defeat too. They ended up retreating en mass across hundreds of miles of territory without putting up a fight. This is the battle that really broke the spell of the caliphate. Huge defeat inflicted by a rag tag PKK affiliate. Hard to tell yourself that you're going to march on Rome after that.
Jordan Young
But is there still Die Fledermaus?
I've seen pics of the show but there is no Fledermaus
Jace Green
"Rag tag PKK" affiliate is a bit rich considering the USAF and USN were the only reason ISIS didn't capture the town and they completely destroyed Kobane in the process.

At this time ISIS was at the peak of their momentum. They had acquired huge reserves of American battlefield equipment from the Iraqi army. They even had tanks. The YPG had uzis, pistols, an assortment of light arms. Yet they dug their heels in and managed to bring them to a halt in Kobani. If they hadn't there would have been nobody on the ground for the USAF to assist when they finally did decide to join in.
So yes the YPG gets a huge amount of credit for standing their ground in front of impossible odds. It was one of the few moments of real heroism to come out of this war. And now the US rewards them by selling them out to an incipient fascist regime in Turkey.
Luis Young
Hows the situation in the U-crane these days? Is Hoholstan still in shambles?
Dominic Powell
The insurgents have dug their heels in and have been training more soldiers, although this will likely be to keep the status quo. Ukraine has ran out of momentum. Russia, for now at least, will maintain support for the insurgents as to prevent Ukraine from being entirely stable and furthering integration with Europe and the West. What could be interesting is the upcoming referndum in South Ossetia/Alania to either retain its current status or formally join the Russian Federation.
Caleb Jones
