Are the "new" seasons good?

There are occasional threads for it.

The newer seasons aren't terrible but you get the faggot pokemon. They don't really match up against the first 3 seasons.

Shame, but sounds worth trying.
I also liked Slayers Great movie. The other two sucked though.

>Shame you guy never talk about it

Sup Forums doesn't really discuss older anime at all, no matter how good it was

Yeah... the newer seasons unfortunately aren't as good. If you love the series they may be worth the watch even if you are disappointed since it confirms some interesting things about Rezo & Amelia's sister - things you see in the first season, but don't think about. Not to mention, there are some laughs to be had...

...but parts of the new season just fall flat...

Never saw Escaflowne thread, either. And it's one of the 90s best. Of course, we need hourly Eva threads.

>fall flat
is that so, user?

TRY was great. Prove me wrong

LINA INVERSE PLEASES OLD MEN FOR MONEY

DOHOHOHOHOHOHOHO

The fuck? Slayers Gorgeous is incredible.

It was.
Try > Original > Next

>Shame you guy never talk about it

But we do all the time

Valgaav was great.

That's the only one I didn't watch. Couldn't find a DVD

Try>Next>Original

But Next final arc was the best, and original final battle was the best.

Next recycled too many jokes. If you ever get sick of food humor and decide to skip it, you'll finish next 2 hours earlier.

I originally only read the manga.
Only got around to watching the anime until around TRY a few years ago,
and I was very disappointed with how the anime turned out.

Boring filler and low budget make watching it a chore most of the time.

Have the novels been translated in the end ? I've been dying to read them for years now ...

Naga was one of the first anime girls I ever fapped to. That exaggerated breast jiggle was just too much for me to handle when I was 12, plus the laugh. I'm almost positive she's the whole reason why to this day almost any ojou-sama laugh instantly arouses me.

For those interested, manga ends with the defeat of Hellmaster Fibrizo or whatever her name was.
Also it's only 9 volumes, so the anime covers a lot more material.
The anime also does some weird shit that I can't imagine being in the novels,
like shipping Amelia and Zelgadis. The manga feels a lot more streamlined and focussed and
is by far the better adaption IMO. (Though I can't say which is more faithful to the source material.)

revolution and evolution r are decent, but nothing more then fanfare. The final fight is particularly awesome because it uses the the seconds OP, which was the correct choice.

The problem with the series is that they didn't have confidence in adapting the slayers novels after Next was because Amelia and Zelgadis moved on with their life and we get new characters to follow Lina and Gourry. So we got 3 anime orignal seasons, Try was good and worthy follow up to next but the other two aren't as fondly remembered.

Slayers needs the jojo/fma treatment and get a new adaptation.

We will never get remastered Blu rays of the first 3 seasons because the original cels were destroyed in a fire. It hurts.

>original cels were destroyed in a fire

Twas not meant to be, user

...

Lurk the fuck more, nigger. Both of those come up all the time, and both have had threads within the last 24 hours (or maybe 30, fuck if I remember).

Can't it be upscaled and filtered or something?

The entire main LN series has been translated. I would highly recommend it to anyone who though that the filler was terrible (Especially in TRY) and that the show got too stupid at points. I picked the novels up myself as they clear up a lot of ambiguity ranging from the exact relation between the lesser demons and Mazoku to actually stating what happened to the tree. There are some heavier moments in the last two volumes, but otherwise it doesn't get any more serious than the most serious moments in the show.

The Aqualord manga is worthwhile as well. In it they fight Dolphin's minions as opposed to Dynast's as they do in the second half of the novels.

Do you really want them to do that? If it really matters to you, you can always use the Waifu2X Vapoursynth plugin instead of hoping that the upscales will turn out decently.

Revolution did sort of adapt volumes 5 and 6, along with bits and pieces from other volumes. The first episode for example with Wizer arresting Lina isn't unlike what happens in volume 9 of Slayers Special. They just didn't have any direction or any idea of what they wanted to do, and made an ugly blend of anime original junk and adaptions.

Even the fight with shabby wasn't that great. Lina just throws Giga Slave at him and everything works out. Whereas Lina fights him in a magical realm where she can dual wield Ragna Blades and shoot off spells that she couldn't even use before at the tail end of volume 15.

I never knew that they made a Dota anime

Explain this meme or go to Sup Forums

Not him but, there is a character Named Lina Inverse as a homage to Slayers, promptly she is a fire user sorcerer

I thought some of the later chapters were done by some wonky translation group, did a better group finish them up? Any particular version I should be looking for?

Loved the first 3 seasons and the ovas + movies

It took a long time for me to slog through the first newer season. Probably not going to watch the next.

The only translation that I found to actually be bad was volume 10's.

Tokypop's translations of volumes 1-8 are fine. They do a good a job at making the intentionally corny parts as so, but they americanize Lina's speech which makes her especially bratty and annoying. Not necessarily a bad thing.

9-15 were generally done by various guys on Baka Tsuki and by a few blogs like Ceiphid's Knight and Bandits Plight. All of them are pretty straightforward and reasonable, though a s I mentioned the version of 10 that I read was pretty stilted, and didn't even romanize spells correctly at points. 10 isn't super plot important and it is readable at least.

Last time I checked, only the first volume of Slayers Special was entirely translated, with bits and pieces being tled on blogs like Fighting Dreaming and Ruby-Eye Translations. You can read the summaries of most of the series here tokitama.net78.net/medialist/novelfujimi.html if you are ever curious.

Eva has meme status.

By the way, I got the entire thing off of Madokami, which is probably the best place to get the entire series at once.

10 was around where I stopped, glad to know it's just a minor speed-bump and it's good beyond that. Thank you for the information and the link, user!

Appreciate that too, can't use torrents on my connection but I'll try to see if I can find a way around that!

Madokami is an FTP server, so if you are a college student or something then using it should be fine.

There are a couple of important details that make it required reading, but it otherwise doesn't have anything to do with the demonic plots that the other volumes focus on.

they use the master film for BD releases, not the cels

>you guys never talk about it
>constant threads for years
lurk for 2 years before posting you mongoloid

the oroginal 3 series was the best the new seasons are okay

I actually just started watching this show a few days ago. Gourry seems pretty cool so far.

the new seasons are why we don't talk about it much

SUFFERIN SUCCOTASH!

I can't because you're right.

I found the movies/ovas to be more intertaining. Even backin the 90s the tv anime never quite hit it home for me. Lina's character seemed down played, and weaker.

>The problem with the series is that they didn't have confidence in adapting the slayers novels after Next was because Amelia and Zelgadis moved on with their life and we get new characters to follow Lina and Gourry.

That's such a bullshit reason. The anime already deviated immensely from the LNs (yes, even before TRY), it couldn't have been that hard to find a way to include Amelia and Zelgadis into the last stretch of the story.

> Destroyed by a dragon slave
How fitting.

>Shame you guy never talk about it,
