While normally I would say it is because Googles developers are fucking atrocious, it very well likely is deliberate.
The recent changes to the new Google News absolutely destroyed so much about how it worked and half the site is still fucking buggy as shit.
It is also filled with spam, literal fake news and clickbait out the ass where it used to be actually fairly useful.
Better just use an RSS reader.
Or get a web scraper and scrape news sites live feeds if they have no RSS.
