They even enacted policies like inheritance tax, which is meant to directly attack whatever is left of the nobility class. The tax is so high now, the sons of a nobility can't afford to inherit his father's land/castle. This has cause catastrophic consequences like they are forced to sell some of their land in order to afford the inheritance. In some cases they are forced to sell so much the no longer have enough income to keep the castles maintained. And then they have to sell the castles, sometimes it's scooped up by foreigners who have 0 bond with the land.

Economic systems weren't global enough in the past for it to be possible not to identify with nationality.

Go take a look at maps of old Europe - borders are determined, more or less, by the economic/political influence of the capital, with the limits determined by communication speed and military strength. Genghis Khan for example, maintained his empire not simply with military prowess, but also by having the single best communication network in the entire world - well kept roads traveled by fast horse-mounted couriers spanning thousands of miles, and further helped by a codified law system and common language.
The western ones won't. The east asians, indians, arabs, and jews will though. Because they're not stupid enough to sell out their own population for short-term economic gain. Economic gain that, as we are already quickly seeing in Germany and France, and everywhere else mass importing nigs, isn't real.
The mass importation of these ethnicities is at best a short-term economic gain in exchange for long-term economic loss. It gives the ruling families of those other races a foothold on your turf. When 90% of Vancouver is Chinese, why would they pay anything to elites in Ottawa, rather than those of their own race in China? Now Canada loses its entire western sphere of influence because these idiots in charge thought globalism meant China and India and so forth would share their resources as much as we share ours.
