You do realize how the prison system works right? Prisons are privatized and then rented out to corporations for free labor. Private prisons use the money to bribe judges to send people to those prisons with harsh sentences, basically as slaves since they are forced to work.

This is stupid shit. You work and you get paid so you can buy shit in prison. You get much less because you're already getting your accomedation and food paid for by the tax payers. If you're in for life you can't be forced to work.
When people are in jail it shows they're a fuck up in life, it's important that when people leave they become at least competent people. Giving them work experience and skills is important to integrate them back to society.
Jails in most countries also run education programs for this purpose too.
