Would the world be better without internet ?

At the end of the 90's, I thought that internet would open a new age of progress, linking people, sharing knowledge, being a tool for enlightment.

But almost two decades later, let's face it : it's only making the world shittier. A lot of people are losing grip with reality, caring about unimportant stuff, ignoring facts, promoting negative behaviour. That's the power of social networks : creating enough noise to blur the lines between good and bad. I mean look at this whole fucking board and tell me this place is sane.

So would you rejoice if internet was ceasing to exist ? It's not going to happen unless there's a major cataclysm of course, but I feel it's a poisoned gift to mankind.

Social media ruined the Internet

The internet was teh catalyst to set us free.

The internet used to be a very fun place. It stopped being fun the minute dames started coming around.

fee pee bee pee

No, the world would be better with more fascist republics with stagnant government expansion.

The cat women destroyed kikebook.

It would be better without social media for sure. Social media hasn't done anything good for society.

>random tweets having any amount of significance or attention paid to them
e p i c

Politicians would have much more power over people, and this board would probably not exists.
So no, we would be worse than we are today

So, internet without social networks would be actually good for mankind ? Something like pre-2005 internet ? Do we keep porn and piracy ? Youtube, Snuff sites, darknet, online games and MMO's ? Would it still be beneficial for mankind ?

It did. I can’t stand the fucking internet anymore. I’m very close to an hero or stabbing a stupid roastie.

I think the big problem is computers became so easy to use, so affordable, and so ubiquitous that literally anybody outside of maybe the few tribal populations can get onto the internet and post with their low IQ.

Now the internet is basically as dumb as the world.

The world would definitely be better without the internet, but it's too late now to take it away. Would be cool if it were possible to take the internet down for a week or something though to see what would happen.

yep, smartphones have turned society into a cancer.

It's similar to cars. Useful for getting from point A to point B rapidly. Until everyone owns a car and you have traffic.
Only i should be allowed to own a car. Fuck everyone else.

Social media + smart phones

I absolutely wish I could've been born before the internet age. I yearn for a sense of community that doesn't exist anymore. Almost everyone I communicate with that's around my age (27) is an basket case with social anxiety issues. They take pride in their neurosis and aren't interested in taking steps towards bettering themselves.

I basically can't stand most people and I think it's because social media has destroyed their brains.

When people started giving our personal information online that's when the internet went downhill. Over a decade ago you were constantly told not to give out personal information online and always keep yourself anonymous, (unless you were ordering things).

The early 2000s internet really makes me feel melancholy because it was so simple and care free when compared to the polarized shit we have today

*out

We told the youth that their opinions matter to the point where we believed our own lies.

Our generation is a fucking embarrassment to mankind. We value the weak and pathetic while demonizing the hardworking and successful.

The good news is that it's easier than ever to rise to the top. Just be the opposite of every millennial who uses twitter.

No i would not enjoy it being gone. The internet is the greatest thing since man split the atom.

You can make that argument about any new innovation. It's how people use it that matters.

Also, fuck social media, that's the drop in the bucket to the amount of progress the internet has made in every other field.

>being such a brainlet that you think social media and other trivial flaws in the internet come anywhere near the amount of benefit it has provided
Fucking retarded thread made by a cuck, what a surprise

I'll decide fro myself what to leave and what to pass on!

yes, the internet is both the best and worst thing of all time

you have to go back, faggot

Technology is a double-edged sword
Good thing: Breaking (((the establishment's))) monopoly of information dissemination
Bad thing: Social media cancer

The establishment owns the internet.

The intertubes offer the best and worst of mankind.

>da internet is so bad because social media
>libtards and femanazis using the internet for impure purposes!
>DAE hate the internet xD I'm so enlightened xD

Literally kill yourself, unplug if you hate it so much you retarded faggot, nobody forces you to be online.
But we both know you wouldn't do something so retarded to yourself.

Complaining about the internet is like living through a drought and then complaining that the first rain storm in 100 years got you wet, so you wish it never came.

this

People are fucked up animals. The internet allows us to focus on one thing that happens 6000 miles away and be a champion of the .03% of the population that chooses to tell you they were born that way.

The world would be better without the "internet".

>I thought the internet would be good
Lol. I remember when the internet was new. I stumbled upon a woman shooting milk out of her ass and I knew pretty quickly the internet was a mistake.

>but information
Drowned out in a sea of meme's and degeneracy.

>Now the internet is basically as dumb as the world.

Have you read the 1st post pic ?
Sure there were huge benefits, but the problem is about how ubiquitous internet has become (who doesn't own a smartphone nowaday ?) and how vapid most of the information is. Even the president of the USA is communicating via useless tweets. It's dragging humanity down.

I work with teenagers and lots of them look autistic, spending any free time on their smartphones. Even myself, I don't find the time or motivation to read a book anymore, spending too much time on Sup Forums.
