Montana I am told is getting better every year. Wyoming was fun to drive through but I'm under the impression 1/3 people there are escaped convicts lying low. Don't overlook Arizona. Yes, it's hot in the desert, but the mountains are just two hours away and cool all summer long. Winters are 6 months of perfect weather. Beautiful scenery, pretty strong economy, cheap cost of living, and low taxes. Some of the smaller cities like Prescott, Payson, and Pinetop are like 95% white and totally safe. You can buy a nice house in most of the state for $150,000-200,000.

Utah has a lot going for it but it has mormons, which have benefits and detractions compared to other countryside dwellers. They have pretty based tax laws and the land is cheap.
