uhm.. you know.. riseup's been around since 2000. It's 2017. I've used them since around 2004. They have survived for a very long time without donations from Mozilla or other bigger organizations like them. More donations does mean they can do more things, so that's good.
They are transparent and release budgets that show what they do with donations and they have no problem listing how much they spend on "oregano" in some of them (yes, they actually did that).
