It's true that the Ancient Egyptians matched more closely with a couple populations in southern Europe (Sardania, Sicily) than modern Egyptians. But that's because modern Egyptians are like 20% sub-Saharan. By far the closest relation was to Levantines, Turks, and Arabs.
