Could it be possible to reduce immigration in Queensland by increasing the payroll tax to 20-30% on non-citizens/permanent residents such as 457 visa holders. Use the tax revenue to fund TAFE.

Obviously no other county was stupid enough to do that and our manufacturing industry was destroyed. Textiles clothing and footwear, automotive etc all gone.
Now you have a situation where we produce no value added goods, just stuff we pull out of the ground, ship to China and Europe where they turn it into something good and sell it back to us at inflated prices. We are competing with third world countries with our exports. Wage growth is dead because we haven't actually increased productivity in years. You can only squeeze so much blood from the stone.
What have we left? An economy that is propped up with retail spending on credit that is funded by property prices. If you cut immigration, there is no more pressure on housing prices. Boomers go hungry and credit dries up. You will never see immigration cut my friends.
We are a nation of baristas, lawyers and professional students. I suggest buying land in the country, getting solar and water tanks and food self sufficient.
