Where did Dragon Ball go wrong?

Where did Dragon Ball go wrong?

Omg is this real?

What is Turles doing back?

When the fandom proof itself foolish and with no standarts, so it was easy to make them happy and to make money.

-They made db heroes, full of what if craps, and it sold a lot
-They hire that moron who created the worse thing that ever happened to DB: DBAF
-They made shit ass games until they realize that make a deviantart-like game was enought, even with a shitty gameplay because these noobs cant play good fighting games like street fighter
-Then they create dbattle of gods, ressurection f, as a test to see if the fans would accept bullshit plot and like the poorly made transformations, and that sold a lot too
-Now they made this new dragon ball department because the franchise became they golden egg chicken

Gt and super is totally wrong

Honestly, the power creep got way out of hand starting with the Saiyan saga. It's hard to relate to characters who can casually blow up entire planets.

And how the fuck is it any easier to relate with characters who can blow up entire cities instead?

I watched a lot of Godzilla movies growing up.

The spics.

Goku should have died on Namek.

after cell games

The after life killed Dragon Ball, Goku shouldn't of died with Raditz, he should of died on Namek.
We would then see him briefly with Gohan killing Cell, as Gohan is the next logical main character.

>Gohanfags

GT/Super were the first ones that were genuinely, unarguably bad, but the troubles that plagued the series started out very early. It was just that Toriyama was skilled enough handling Tension that the issues weren't glaringly obvious.

Plot convenience solving issues for the characters started as early as episode 3, when Roshi just happened to have a Dragon Ball.

By the end of the Red Ribbon Saga, after ther fight against Tao Pai Pai, it became clear that fighting abilities were just a number/rank representing raw power next to a character's name, and training didn't mean jackshit other than raising that number. Goku, after a power up, didn't fight better or even differently. He just fought and dealt more damage to his opponent. And most importantly, all characters started fighting in the same way.

By the end of the Freezer saga, flight and power levels had completely ruined fights and simply turned them into powering up and throwing punches/kicks to the air.

Saiyan saga fights were the first in which scale was nonsensical, and by the Cell saga it became glaring that differences in power were just a convenience.

Freezer behaves idiotically almost his entire fight just to keep the situation interesting, and although that could be said to be his personality, by the Cell Saga, Vegeta, Piccolo, the Androids, the other Androids, Cell, and Trunks all behave like Freezer.

he said it all

...

phone?

when gohan /ourguy/ stopped being relevant

Battle of Gods was good, then it became apparent in Return of F that the new transformations would be nothing but shitty recolors. It was then that the franchise was fucked.

When it became more about "X is now more stronger than X" than having a more engaging story like Dragon Ball.

Series went to shit after Frieza

Everything after Freiza was just terrible.

>Where did Dragon Ball go wrong?
You are not 10 anymore.

Yes this sums it up nicely.

>Wanting the prototype of an LN character to be MC

>By the end of the Freezer saga, flight and power levels had completely ruined fights and simply turned them into powering up and throwing punches/kicks to the air.

You haven't actually read Dragon Ball, have you?

huehuehue

so ebin, user, just ebin. You watch those 20 other anime about little girls that make you feel like a big guy?

Dragon Ball had Goku using a kemahema to propel himself through king piccolo

This, recolors are bad because unoriginal poop!

When you decided to download this three times

Dragonball was always shit and Toriyama making stuff on the fly, the only difference it's you are not 10 and can't enjoy Toriyama asspulls and retarded powerlevels.

I think you're confused and a bit stupid

goku's story is over. it should've been left alone after buu. new dragon ball series should be set on the same universe, with the same rules, but using entirely new characters, including villains. no time patrol shit, no alternate timeline, no shit like that.

you can have super saiyan, you can have namekians, you can have whatever the fuck you want. but leave the old characters and their powerscales behind and start anew. you don't have to explain shit. why can people turn ssj if the saiyans were killed millions/thousands of years ago? no one knows, no one can explain it, shit doesn't matter. and just move on with it

but they keep bringing back the same cast of characters, when they're already too powerful, when they already had their closure in the buu saga, when there's no real room for them to be in actual peril or be threatened by any reasonable enemy. it's shit

Hi Fritz

The minute everything was aliens.

>When the fandom proof itself foolish and with no standarts
Your points are kind of stupid, but you are right with this one. Just an evil Goku has everyone fapping to the shounen tropes because DBS got serious and mature, throw deviantart recolors and the fanboys are sold.

>Look, I posted it again!
user, your autism is starting to scare me.

So... basically GT

Goku is still the main character of GT. And it also ruined the closure of the Buu arc. Uub was useless.

no? even the first saga in gt was about goku and trunks? when they came back to earth it was still the same characters? their power levels were still ridiculous and they still had retarded transformations? are you retarded? how can a series with a new, fresh start use THE SAME FUCKING CAST from before +1 new character you mouthbreather?

~ep1

The sad thing about this is that the non Goku/Vegeta characters had to be depowered to allow Goku and Vegeta to keep the spotlight.
>Piccolo had troubles with Namek Frieza character.
>Gohan lost more power in one year, when he spend 7 years reading books in his house.
>Krillin is a scared chicken that can't fight anymore.
>Goten, the kid that loves his daddy, sparring and has social abilities became Who? The character.
>Trunks is only for bait romance.

Maybe I have shit taste, but pic related is my dream team (+Piccolo) to be the MCs of one saga.

At least in GT the characters were allowed to have personalities.

Gotenks being useless really did make me angry. Sure he can be annoying, but i've always thought that it's a really cool thing how Trunks and Goten together can become stronger than their fathers.

...

he's not tsundere, he's senile

Aren't you a smashfag, are you?

I watched dragon ball and super man and other planet buster stories growing up

Power levels tbqh.

You'll notice that once Raditz appears the series goes downhill immediately and power levels become super important. Now every fight it about who is more powerful.

Yep.
People keep blaming Z for the whole "I'm stronger than you so I win!" and "Power levels matter!" tropes when they don't realize that shit plagued the second half of the OG Dragonball series.

smash isn't a fighting game

why does it seems like half the people in this thread can't write in english properly

Turles just looked like Goku. Black literally is goku from the future. It's lazy character design versus lazy writing.

you tell me

Is Uub still canon?

> Where did Dragon Ball go wrong?
Realistically, after Frieza. Optimistically after Cell.
From a narrative point of view there was no reason to continue to the story after defeating Frieza. He completed his origins story and finished his epic.

However, the trouble with these shounen stories is that another arc can always be added regardless if it adds to the story. And all these additional arcs just slowly erode away any notion of a self-consistent universe let alone a raison d'etre for the characters. The series collapses under its inability to conclude.

Battle of the Gods was a perfect movie.

The problem is, even Goku's arc being over says nothing about the other characters.

It seemed like after Cell, Gohan was going to be the new hero. Then Goku saved the day lol.

Am I the only one who genuinely liked GT? I thought it brought back some of the fun tone and interesting character designs that made me love Dragon Ball. DBZ got so boring

When Goku stopped Krillin from killing Vegeta.
