As bad as they were, if you don't count Germans expelled in the 40s then the Polish People's Republic was communist state with one of the lowest kill counts. Of course, it was still extremely shitty and noone remembers it fondly. Polish communism was still pretty nationalistic, though. It went to the point where Polish officials had problems with Moscow.
