Look up Record of Lodoss War. Deedlit is a spellsword, using a sword. Modern fantasy, especially, but not only, japanese fantasy, completely forgets that swords are elf-weapons as much as bows. Also her magic is not really the magic of a studied wizard, but of someone close to the world of the fey.
Modern japanese elves in general are almost universal shit compared to enchanting girls as Deedlit and Pirotess. It even has male elves, can you believe that!
