Well, that was a lot more brutal then I was expecting.

I was not ready, fantastic show tho

Wasted Potential: The Anime.

Jojo was a mistake.

I watched it yonks ago, before I had watched or read Jojo. I didn't even know, m8

>fantastic show tho
More like could've been if the MC wasn't an insufferable faggot.

One of the first anime I ever watched. I'm afraid to rewatch it since it probably won't hold up.

The show had some pretty nasty moments.

>gang rape
>'stone' age abortion

damn son

Gotta agree. I watched this cause I was in the mood for some dark shit and Sup Forums recommended this if that was what I was in the mood for. Wasn't as depressing as I hoped for.

Well the show is about how hope and goodness triumphs over adversity. There is never not a glimmer of optimism.

I see why people like it and it's a good anime, but it just felt like suffering porn to me.

>Daijoubu
>several thousand massacres, a horde of enslaved children and one abortion later
>Daijoubu

It sucks and it started so well.

Exactly. I wanted a show that impressed upon me the inherent cruelty of man and would leave me pessimistic; and that's what I thought I was getting. But the ending did not deliver.

>pic related

If you were an edgey fifteen year-old, I'd recommend Elfen Lied, but you are probably past that by now.

>If you were an edgey fifteen year-old, I'd recommend Elfen Lied, but you are probably past that by now.

Right, I'm not saying I wanted something that's violent just for the sake of violence. Just at the time I wanted a series that was 100% pessimistic in contrast to the usual "boy gets transported to a strange world and goes on an adventure"-type drama, and that it was still too hopeful and failed to live up to that expectation.

>inherent cruelty of man
I'd watch MD Geist, because not only it portrays so, it also partakes in the enjoyment of such acts.

Sounds like Texhnolyze is what you really want to watch.

Well, it was pretty bad all around for the blonde girl.

Yeah, Texhnolyze is a tragedy. Pretty depressing, OP.

...

Just googled Texhnolyze and I'm intrigued. What do you like about this show anons?

watch Texhnolyze then

Wow I made this post without even seeing the other two mentions of it above me
I guess it's just unanimously known as the darkest anime ever huh

What do you like about it user?

>All that child rape and torture.

There is not a single moment of happiness or joy within the entire series. It's almost as if that emotion is alien to the characters.
The show is dark, depressing, bleak, disturbing, and odd all without being edgy or hamfisted.
If you truly are looking for a soul crushing anime with one of the most hauntingly beautiful endings out there, then just watch it. A lot of people don't seem too fond of it since it can seem very slow and methodical (there isn't even any dialogue until more than halfway into the first episode) but it all comes together to form this unique and strange little anime.
It's a series that I'm surprised even got greenlit for production since it seems so niche and not like something people would watch to have a good time. But that's the point, no one IS watching it for that. I don't think this show could be made nowadays, honestly

these anons got it right
this show is a pretty interesting watch but its not that fucking good

>shu doesn't have a fucking arc and just shonen sperg outbursts his way thru everything
>>lala-ru isn't a fucking endearing character
>hamdo is a shitty villain
>all the grimdark stuff is actually handled pretty well, and seems to affect each characters growth, except shu
>abelia's character makes no fucking sense, she would've glassed hamdo's ass when he went insane if her character was consistent
>the early assassination attempt on hamdo not succeeding even when the assassin was 3 feet away with a gun is beyond retarded
>the setting isn't clearly fleshed out enough

i'm not sure if i'm remembering wrong or not but doesn't sara end up keeping the baby and staying in the fucking wasteland, the hint of the stone age abortion is hardcore, but if i'm right the writers did pussy out

This sounds like exactly what I was looking for when I sat down to watch Now and Then, Here and There. I'll check this out. If it's as depressing as you say, then I'm not sure I should be thanking you, but thanks for recommending this user!

>i'm not sure if i'm remembering wrong or not but doesn't sara end up keeping the baby and staying in the fucking wasteland
She did.

AND ANOTHER THING THAT PISSED ME OFF

but in all seriousness I would've had her decide to keep the baby, but miscarry due to some injury she receives when taken prisoner, also why damn your baby to a desert planet, also why the fuck didn't everyone jump back to current day, there were only like 5000 people left

>shu doesn't have a fucking arc and just shonen sperg outbursts his way thru everything

That was the point of him. Though he was a little too intense and not well rounded enough

Wasn't there some asspull that prevented Sara from returning?

the show was pretty bad outside stuff like sarah
most of it is dumb characters in a lot of dumb situations
it was hardly depressing as what anons claim
honestly just a circlejerk because it's "dark"

Show was shit honestly
