Myth. The Krauts were getting their asses kicked in 1918. Had the homeland not crumbled and demanded surrender the Allies would have invaded into Germany and the peace would have been even more harmful. Likely the ruhr would have become full French territory and not just occupied.

They were collapsing on all fronts when the war ended, their army never mutinied and although their navy did it had no hope of turning the tide of the war anyway. France ironically has a better claim to being stabbed in the back in 1917 with the army mutinies that Germany never capitalized on and in 1940 when Petain surrendered to Germany.
